This past spring we put up a couple of roosts in the run. A short time after putting in these outside roosts our larger chickens started sleeping out there overnight. Eventually 5 of our 9 chickens started sleeping out there, even when this winter came. The other 4 were still going inside the coop to roost at night. Over the past few weeks though, these other hens that roost on the interior coop are suddenly sleeping - and therefore pooping all night- in the nest boxes. Why would they stop roosting?

Is it winter where you are? It could be possible that the boxes are cozier than the roosts, or that the hens are avoiding drafts in the coop. Some of them could be brooding, but it would be strange for that many to brood at once. Are they still laying?

Are the outside roosts higher than in the inside roosts?
How old are your birds, in weeks or months?

How big is your coop, run, roosts, in feet?
Dimensions and pics would help immensely here.

Also....
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!
