Hi All,
We started raising some chickens back in the summer of 2019 and picked up 6 hens at our local Tractor Supply. The hens are great and produce eggs like clockwork. They bring us 3 large brown eggs and 3 large light brown eggs a day. Next we picked up 8 Easter Eggers and they lay nice light green eggs, but the hens are very skittish but still fun to interact with. Our final additions were an assortment of hens: a Black Copper Maran, an Olive Egger, a Lavender Orpington, and then a couple each of Blue/Black/Splash Ameraucana's, Buff Laced Polish and White Crested Black Polish. All very pretty birds and much fun to watch. Each set of hens have thier own space for sleeping, but then have the entire yard for the daytime. They all terrorize our cats and dogs and are very confident as they patrol the grounds looking for good things to eat. With our assortment of hens that are now all laying on a regular basis, we have an array of colored eggs. It's been a lot of fun and educational as well.
