Hey yall we are on day 20, and the eggs have started to hatch, I only see three mostly developed eggs so I’m guessing our max hatch would be 3. Well this morning while I was gone at a horse show a family member texted me so excited that one started to hatch. That was around 6am this morning when they found a shell price fallen off the egg and a teeny hole where they saw movement. Later they heard chirping and saw more movement before joining me at the show. Well tonight I’ve found that there’s not really more progress, expect the other egg behind it started to pip, externally that is. I know this is a patient waiting game, and the humidity is at like 55-60% and I see sone veins around the inside of the shell so I know it’s not 100% ready yet, how long do I wait before stepping in? I really honestly don’t want to lol im scared I will hurt them. Should I get up overnight? Or are they fine?

Also these wires are hanging down on this borrowed incubator, what should I do?

Well, the egg that externally pipped after the first wasted no time in zipping and breaking out!! My concern is its dragging the shell since it’s attached still. I’m new so I want to do what’s right! I’m so excited!!

And as far as temperature… I kinda just have to leave it since the other side is lower and I’m unsure of what to do.

Boost the humidity to 70%. Then go to bed and sleep well. Betcha there will be at least one chick in the morning.

You only need to intervene if that pipped chick shows no progress for 24 hours. So if there's no change in the morning, make the hole a little bigger and see what's going on.

This is just so exciting!!! :wee :celebrate :jumpy :ya

I am slightly concerned since the one chick that hatched second but pipped first looks bloated, and it’s neck looks almost lumpy but I can’t get too worried yet 😂 it’s probably 3 mins old. Oh and the ones shell is bloody that it broke away from, but idk it’s probably fine? 😂

Congratulations!

Leave the lid closed and just watch.
Give them time. Chicks can look a bit funny until they get up and moving about and dry off.
They will move about a little, peep their head off, then go to sleep. A hard sleep, then pop up, scream their head off again, move around, then sleep sleep.

Leave them til morning. They will be fine in there. I KNOW it's very tempting to want to hold them, but you can do that when they are dried and fluffy.

You can talk to them through the incubator though. They can hear you :)
