I’ve decided to start a thread for my flock

I’ve seen these around and wanted to start one although cannot promise to be very consistent with posting in it

First will start with the oldest hen
Brownie my almost 10 year old Easter egger hatched in spring of 2012
I got her with her to “sisters” at the local feed store (I’ll introduce her sisters later with the other birds I used to have)
She is the absolute sweetest hen
She’s sat asleep on my lap for hours before
and although I don’t like to pick favorites she’d probably be it

Next we have the 2020 batch

I got all 4 of them at the local feed store

First is Goldie my buff Orpington

She’s sweet and makes it hard to sit down outside because she will instantly come running over for attention and then you’ll end up sitting there with a chicken on your shoulder or head

We even thought she was a rooster as a chick because she was so dominant also her comb looks funny because she tried to challenge the current hen queen when she was a pullet

Next is midnight my gorgeous black sexlink

Also very sweet and currently the boss of all the other chickens

Then we have sunset my gold sexlink

She’s certainly the flightiest of the older birds but will still follow you around for treats

And last Is pecky my silver laced Wyandotte the least friendly of these 4 birds but still can be sweet if you don’t mind catching her

Then we have the 2021 batch (also know as the pullets despite being almost a year old)

Also boughten from the local feed store

First will start with the ones I like

Copper the partridge welsummer the smartest chicken I have currently shes my adventure hen and likes getting herself into trouble like going into are neighbors yard (they have big dogs) or getting stuck in weird places or probably my favorite deciding to go on an adventure in the house when I’d accidentally left the door open while I was working outside found her about half an hour later upstairs in my bedroom

Then we have the other pullet I like

Ugie the black jersey giant

She will always be remembered as the hen who was completely determined to lay her eggs in the house (couldn’t tell you why she hadn’t lived in the house for months) I found her laying an egg in the towel basket in the kitchen

Then we have the 4 pullets I don’t like as much

First the Wyandottes

Chicky (columbian Wyandotte) & strawberry (blue laced red Wyandotte)

Both extremely flighty

Chicky enjoys sitting on our neighbor's fence and panicking if you try and chase her off

while strawberry also known as the dumb one (I like calling my chickens names sometimes) is terrified to walk out of the coup if your standing by the door and will freak out about it and stand there and make lots of noises at you

Then the “twins”

There not actually twins for whatever reason I’m the only one in my family who can tell them apart

First onyx (cuckoo English marans)

She is the less dumb one of the twins but one of are flightiest birds

And star (olive egger)
Who is arguably the dumbest of are birds who if anything goes near her will freak out
fortunately she makes up for it by having very pretty eggs

Then we have the ducks all 3 were given to me as a late birthday present in September of 2021

2FB03181-0B1D-415F-99F8-76579FB6393E.jpeg

First is the Rouen Petra she’s about two years old and is definitely in charge of the entire flock also she acts like a drake and will even sometimes try and charge you if your trying to catch the other two ducks

Then we have the Muscovy sisters (both hatched in spring of 2021)

Pearl is the silvery one and sweetest of the ducks

And coco is the brown one she’s sweet but not as snugly as her sister

Both of them act like Petra’s cronies following her around and chasing the chickens away

Decided I wanted to keep this thread going so here’s my updates
in the last year and half I’ve gotten 9 more birds (and also lost 2 :( )

The birds I also where brownie who passed at 11 years old in March of 2023
And goldy who passed from an unknown illness in spring of 2023

Brownie spent her last months as a house chicken enjoying her retirement
