I was discussing a friend's surgery with him recently and I remembered an adage.
Defining a surgery as 'Major or routine' usually depends on whose surgery it is. If it's yours, It's MAJOR.

This post on "Not-the-bee" reminded me of some of the police interviews in the recovery room at a Level One Trauma Center years ago. I learned that most violent crimes were apparently committed by one "Super Villain" named "Somedude" as in "We weren't doing nothing. Somedude just walked up and started shooting."
Once the victim told the police "We were just sitting in our car, parked on the side of the road, reading our Bibles, and somedude just started shooting at us. The investigator kept a straight face and kept jotting notes.
I had to walk away to keep from giggling.
