scratch VS whole corn

Well I am learning a lot from this thread.

Chrissieg,
Scratch is a grain mixture sold at most feed stores here. It usually has corn, milet, sunflower seeds, and oats, but may have other grains depending on the region.

Scratch is not good as the only feed source for birds. It lacks a lot of the nutrition laying hens need. It is usually fed as a treat or supplement.

Thanks very much, I did go to the site's A-Z and found out a little! I get 'mixed corn' from feed merchant, which is predominantly wheat with some oats and cracked maize. Not as grand as scratch eh?
I've just found mice have been in my currants and sultanas ..... could I recycle via chickens?

prairie chicken,

I'd love the recipe, are you on the organic chickens yahoo group?
