What do you guys think about this sort of nesting box? My concerns would be that the opening doesn't seem predator proof, which I can possibly figure out how to attach a latch, but mainly how it would do in the heat and the cold. Would the metal be uncomfortable for the girls? Anyone have experience with this style? I do like the idea of fetching the eggs from the outside and the metal being easier to clean.

Wouldn't this be in your coop? I'm wondering why you're concerned about predators as there shouldn't be any way one can get in our coops.

The other thing is it seems so expensive, but I see what you're seeing for convenience, and those would be nice.

Here in WI though in the winter, I'm sure those would be cold. We heat our coop to 40F but they'd still be cold. Maybe that'd be a plus though so they won't want to go broody. 😊

Many use roll out nests, some are even exposed to the outside of the coop.
Much would depend on your climate and your coop configuration.
Pics of your coop, inside and out, would help immensely here.

Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
