Adjustable Chick Feeder Mk III

My first batch of chicks I used the standard red plastic feeder. My adjustment was 2x6's cut into an octagon. My second batch I cobbled up a feeder that could be adjust up as they grow with the added benefit of keeping them off of the feeder with a sloping roof. It was not ideal but functioned OK.

This is about the Adjustable Chick Feeder Mk III. It has 4" of adjustment. I tried to eliminate all the things from Mk II that I didn't like.

I'll start with the parts for the feeder box. Notice the match marks on one end, no matter how careful you are the holes in both ends will not be exactly the same. The box could have been made simpler but I was practicing with my table saw. The slot in the back is where the sloping roof back plugs into.

Feeder Box assembled. The top is just laying in the slot and can be removed to clean it out if needed.

Mounted in the base. The arms have slots but a series of holes would work just as good. The lines are just reference lines for raising the feeder up. The outside blocks are glued to the base then the verticals are screwed to the blocks from the side.

If anyone needs the exact dimensions I made it to I can make some PDF prints and attach them to the article.

A very interesting feeder build.
Lovely feeder!
Adding the PDF with dimensions would make this a five star article

Sorry for some reason I'm not getting notifications when someone posts a review :(

I just checked and I didn't make 3-D cad drawing of the feeder. I'll get the general dimensions from the feeder and add them to the article.
