Thank you for this. I am likely facing culling a 2 week old chick with a potentially untreatable slipped tendon. I'm hoping he gets better, but hope is never a plan.

Thanks for the great information! I have my chick in a sling right now due to a slipped tendon. WRT the other issue on blindness you should google Keratoconus. My middle son has this it's a deformation of the cornea that makes the eyes bulging or "football" shaped. I don't know if it has been seen in chickens but what you describe sounds like what my son has. Also if she does then she is not actually totally blind but sees through a refractive prism so she can see shapes and movements but that's about it. My son says it's like looking through a kaleidoscope some times. It also gets worse and better so all in all a pretty odd disease.
