Of all the ails I've endured with chickens over the last 8 years. Having my kids pull my favorite 10 year old Serama hen out of my horse trough was the scariest. She was alive, but barely. Her comb was blue, she was stiff and cold, gasping for air. My amazing 9 year old daughter comforted me by reminding me that our hen,Betty Boop, had had a wonderful life. We all thought she was gone.

But it's my modo, if there's a chance always try. So I wrapped her in towels, and held her to my body. Basically treated her hypotheria. Rubbed her untill she was dry. Luckily it was a hot day, and night, because a heat lamp would have warmed her too quickly. After about an hour, I dripped some diluted Nutri-drench into her beak. Then layed her in a cage in my warm garage, with a bed of hay. Hay is a very warm bedding, but again not hot. Went to bed, and hoped.
This morning, she's up, enjoying cottage cheese, and some electrolytes. I am over the moon. Hopefully this article helps someone who encounters a similar situation. And, if there's a chance, don't give up.
