Contact Dermatitis/Foot pad dermatitis is a condition in which chickens develop inflammatory reactions in the skin and even ulcers caused by a combination of moisture and chemical irritants like ammonia in the litter material.

Below are pictures and treatments used with resolution. Easter Egger chick 6 weeks old.

Treatment of epsom salt soak, gentle debridement with a tooth brush and a topical triple antibiotic ointment. I also added some vitamins to the waterer and a dab of aquaphor to the pads this morning.

Resolution. Treatment was administered 4 nights in a row. These pictures are approximately 1 week after last treatment.
