Boy or girl?

If you have chicks you will probably not know if they are a boy or a girl until they are around 6 weeks old. Lot's of people pick a name....then if the chick turns out to be a boy and they picked a girl name, they change it to something similar, like: If you have a chick you thought was a girl and named "Dotsy", you can change it to "Dennis" or "Duke". But it all depends on what you want. :)

What breed?

Sometimes people want to name their chickens based on the breed. If you have a Speckled Sussex, you could name it "Speckles" or "Dottie", or something like that.

Temperament:

Chickens all have different personalities! They are each unique in their own way. If you have a hen that likes to peck at you and/or other things, you could name her "Miss Pecks" or "Pepper".

Anything you want:

Some people just like a certain name, and to them it just "fits" the chicken. I personally like the names "Twinkle" and "Ivory". Maybe next time I get chicks I will choose one of those names.
