The Chicken Taj is designed off of a 4'x8' layout. The Taj is 8' long and 4' wide and a height of 3' tall. The legs you can make any height. I made my legs 3' tall. The nest box area is 3'x4' with the open area 5'x4'. This design will hold 12-15 chickens easily with no overcrowding. The frame is built using 2"x4" wood. Legs are 4x4's. 1" poultry screen was used around the open area and the bottom of the open are has the 1/2" mesh screen. The flooring in the nest box is solid 3/8" plywood. The top is just some old scrap tin that I had lying around.
The screen in the nest box is a piece that is cut and inserted during hot days so that the temp drops about 10*-15* and to also help with ventilation.
