This is where it all begins,
I leveled the area off and laid down three 6x6 skids to build on
I built the floor which is 12' x 16', and put one wall up, enough for one day
The next day I put up the rest of the walls and the roof trusses
This picture shows the T1-11 on the walls, metal roofing,
window openings 2'x2', gable vent, and a 36" door. Two pop doors on the north wall , one for the older hens, the other for the little chicks, they lead out to a 25'x50' fenced in run, covered with aviary net.
I started painting the coop before I put the windows in , and trim up
This picture shows the windows and door installed,
I started installing the trim on the front
This is the north wall with windows and pop doors, you can see the aviary netting in this picture.
This is the south wall with two windows and three low vents which are 6"x22.5"
This is the front almost completed, I still need to install metal gable trim
This picture shows the covered enclosed 6'x11' run for the chicks, to be seen but not touched by the older girls
I kept the run from the old coop
This is as soon as you walk in the front door, 3' wide little feed and supply area with a built in table and shelf. You can see that the eaves are open for ventilation, in this picture
Here we are looking through the front door opening at the screened wall and screen door to enter the chicken area
In this pucture we are standing inside the hens area looking out towards the front
This is part of the poop board and roost,
Bottom right in the picture is the pop door
Here is the rest of the hens roost and poop board, the roost is about 12" above the poop board.
Also shows 7 nesting boxes under the poop board.
This is showing the wall that separates the hens from the chicks, an the roof trusses and gable vent, along with a ridge vent that runs the length of the roof
This area is going to be the chicks area ,it is 5' wide x 8'long, once the chicks get added to the flock I will remove the temporary wall between them
This picture shows the covered chicken run, I also let them free range in the pastures
This is the inside floor plan, I tweaked it some. The plan shows 3 windows on the sides I put 2 in
For ventilation I installed, 5 low vents, a gable vent on the front, there is a ridge vent that runs the length of the coop, and the roof eaves are open with hardware cloth ,
I hope you all enjoyed my build as much as I did
Thank you for looking
