I have a small coop and successfully raised ISA's, Jersey Giants, RIR, and Barred Rock. I let them out every day to free range and they would return to the coop at dusk. Eggs were always laid in the coop nesting box. Never had a problem. Would White or Brown leghorns work, or would they fly off to roost in trees and lay in the woods?
