Is 35 degrees too cold for chickens?

Thank you for all the answers!! i feel so embarassed. I didn't know chickens were so cold-hardy! I will probably just close up one vent on the wind side. I went to the coop today, freaking out if one of them had frozen or something, and I got four beaks in my face for scratch. They were fine...

Recently it's been about 45-65 degrees during the day, and about 35-45 degrees at night. Do we need any extra heat? I still have a heat...

We got our first three days ago! Congrats for yours!! I have a question of my own. My buff orpington was panting and squirming around in the nesting box for quite awhile before an egg. When it was done she looked about ready to pass out! How do you help with her stress?

Silkie was crowing at 4 weeks..now nothing... I'm confused.

I don't know ... I don't have a rooster myself, but I never heard of them crowing at 4 weeks. I thought it started when they are around 8 weeks old. Are you sure it was crowing?

What a suprise when I woke up from loud chicken squawking and headed lazily to the coop. I didn't even bother to check the nesting box. But I glanced over, and oh my gosh. that is NOT what i think it is!!! But it was! It was around 7:30 in the morning. Then, later, around 9:30 I went back ot...

keeping chickens cool in hot weather

I know this is an old thread, but I typed "hot" in the search bar because BOY are my girls hot! It's not too hot yet, though, highs of 95's, but I want to make sure I'm careful. They're 3 months old so no eggs yet. I will definitly try the 2 liter idea, spraying the dirt with a hose, and cold...

Can I trim my silkie's crest?

Right, OK, don't know how this informative thread turned into a debate about pugs ... I have one golden laced Polish chicken, shes around 3 1/2 months old. She is amazing and we love her. She always makes us laugh. But we soon realized that she doesn't quite know where she's going. She can see...
