Andrea's Chickens Didsbury, Alberta I live in a very surburban neighbourhood that backs onto fields in a small town. I used to keep chickens when I lived in Ontario and loved having them. I had three Barred Rocks (Heather, Sage, and Rosemary) and two sex-linked black crosses (Brownie and...

    traveling across country with chickens

Thanks everyone for the advice. I however, am not really concered about being pulled over- I don't think Canada has the same restrictions for crossing provincial boundaries, but I will check (something I haven't thought about before). I was really wondering more about how the individual birds...

    traveling across country with chickens

I had no idea what forum to post this under as I'm sure this issue does not come up very much. I have 5 chickens of various breeds (4 bantams and one unexpected generic brown full size hen- as an aside, she layed an 85g egg today!) and will need to move across country in the summer. I was...

Can a chicken lay more than one egg a day?

Apparently one of my bantams layed two, 4 chickens and 5 eggs today. I'm sure noeggs were missed yesteday when collecting either. We have two Wynadottes, one Rhode Is Rd, and one Cochin and they all just started laying.

What is going on with the feathering on this bird?

I have a Rhode Island Red chick that is feathering out just like yours- the other of the same breed is normal like the others. I am guessing mine is a rooster, it certainly has the attidude. I would love to know what yours turned out to be or if you figured out what, if anything is wrong.

Hello from the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, Canada

Hi! I used to live on the South Mountain south of Kentville. What a beautiful area- I really miss the valley. I am now living in Alberta, so that doesn't help you much, but good luck finding others near you.

    Hello from Alberta

Hello, I am realtively new to keeping chickens, I had 5 barred rocks and 2 sex link girls several years ago but had to find a new home for them when I moved out to Alberta (they are still doing well I and I can visit them anytime). I never had any problems with those birds and assumed raising...

Chick won't eat or drink and can't stand

Help, I am new to the forum and would like advice regarding my little 4 day old English Game bantam chick. Its flock mates are all bantams of various breeds and are doing well, but the bantam game hen cannot stand up, does not want to eat or drink and it is holding its feet strangely. It has...
