Anyone in Carroll county have hatching eggs available? At this point I am looking for just about anything to test out the incubator setup. Thanks in advance.
Picture of the hawk that has been flying in and out of our fishing line webbing (every 6 inches back and forth). It doesn't work one bit!!! I just installed bird netting this morning. Hopefully the massacre stops now.
I decided that coop 2.0 was going to be easy to clean. So I built it with 3 large floor trays (plywood) and 3 nest boxes that rest on the floating floors. Cleaning this thing is a breeze.
To clean?
1.) Pull out nest boxes (no tools required)
2.) Pull out each floor panel (no tools required)...
Thanks for all the good advice. I did try using fishing line across the top of the 6' chain link fence that is my run. (2500' of line at 6" intervals back and forth over 40'x15' run)
The next day there were loose strains of line and a dead, picked over chicken outside the fence. So much for...
I have chickens for about 3 years now (15 chickens and dwindling).
They are in a fenced in run.
They get eaten by hawks. (1 a week now)
I will be building a covered run this summer.
Thinking about getting a goose as guard.
I built my own coop. Will post pictures later.
I need hatching eggs...
