Cage is wire all sides. Shade and cool gunny cloth that I wet down and shade from boards on side and back. After this pic I put a board under for stability and then added dirt inside to pad the floor.
it did get ulcerative. It happened so fast with each one. Maybe I could have put Neosporin on it before but only read about that today elsewhere. At that point the bird would have died, like the others. My vet doesn't treat birds.
Will do the extra fencing. One left and no marks on him. I'm wondering if it wasn't this rooster doing it. Will reinforce asap. Thank you everybody for your help! I appreciate it. I will get more birds later, but need to fix this problem first. Thanks!
They are in a cage of chx wire, surrounded with chainlink fencing all around that plus other wire . Triple fenced. I raise Brittanys. The birds were for training, for a dog to point, not grab. I don't allow my birds to be molested.
I got 5 quail in the usps mail about 10 days ago. All appeared healthy. I made a cage of pvc frame/ 1/2" chicken wire. All males, I think bobwhite. One had blood on his back leg. I removed him. He died overnight . Another day, another bloody leg. Foot fine, knee and thigh not. This has...
