Has anyone raised call ducks and silkies together?

We are getting some call ducks (a pair) and a friend of mine said that they would happily live with our silkie chicken flock. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this and could fill us in on some pros and cons!

    Silkie Breeding

so #3, #6 and #9 are the ones who have smooth feathers (#6 and #9 are clearly mixed - shows in their toes and #9 is obviously just not a silkie lol. #3 is the one I was curious about, if she had come from my satin or not. since the pictures were taken they've grown more and 6 more hatched all...

ok!!! really good to know, I guess we made out pretty well then as far as silkies go. will be more diligent about separation for the next clutch. it's crazy how drawn to the silkies that barred rock is. he has a full flock of ladies to choose from but does everything he can to get in there...

    Silkie Breeding

    1. thank you. i'm trying to figure out which of the babies i can classify as pure silkies and I've gathered that if they show true silkie feathering then that seems like a safe bet. only 3/15 are showing satin feathers and/or were fathered by the barred rock roo. 2. thanks for the correction...

Hi there silkie enthusiasts: I have a pretty simple question for you -or hopefully it is! We have a flock of silkies that we keep separate from our main chicken flock. We allow them to breed when they want to and raise their lovely little babies. However, we have a super determined barred rock...

our dog Dandelion loves all of our chickens, especially the chicks. when we raise the chicks indoors she lays beside the brooder constantly. she is always looking out for them and has even alerted us to some chickens in danger in the past. we have a disabled chicken that is in the house most of...
