oh yes chickens and ducks and turkeys and eggs in the incubator.... I run festivals and spring is a busy season! This is how I spend my non-chicken time: https://www.bigwhimsy.com/list-of-faerie-faires.html
I live in Baltimore City and hawks are a huge problem. I mean, they are wonderful, but they pick off my smaller chickens. It would probably be "illegal" to roof keep your birds, but it's a CYA law- if your neighbors don't report you, you are good. But food up and poop down - I certainly wouldn't...
I LOVE Brahmas and the dark ones are the prettiest! I don't "need" more chickens, but I am happy to provide them a home. If someone else neeeds them, go with them. I have a buff laced brahma and a Bielefelder, a Leghorn and some mixed chickens.
I have two buff laced brahma hens and just got a Bielefelder roo. I know offspring will be adorable fluffy butts. I am hoping for pictures from some of y’all!
If she’s given up and won’t sit, you could try to keep the viable ones warm in the day and skip them under her at night. I hatched a chick in my bra one time….
I’m in Baltimore City! Looking for a farmette in the country though. I have chickens, ducks and turkeys so am living life in the edge. Haha. Definitely not allowed. If you hear of an acre or more with an outbuilding or two, let me know! Fixer upper is okay!
How did it go? I am about to get my first Bielefelders this spring, and I was wondering about crosses... curious about crossing with Leghorns and RIRs and other great layers....
Someone somewhere said: "positive note, you can breed an Ayam Cemani rooster to some cream legbar hens and make a sexlink that lays blue eggs, the hens will be all black, with a tophat and the boys will be barred. "
I have a Svart Hona roo and a Cream Legbar Hen, but he is young still and she is...
