Grow with us! Week by Week Progression of Straight Run Chicks.

2 & 4 look like my Welsummers did around that age and I'd say roo for 2 & hen for 4 Dolly (hen) Loki (roo)

Any ideas in Peaches coloring? Breeder said buff partridge. Her feathers have barring in the orange crest and neck as well as the greyer feathers. Almost like a cuckoo look but I'm not sure

    Silkie Color help!

Very pretty 😍 I have a Welsummer hen & roo that started as chipmunk chicks as well but more like my olive egger above. This group may have Satin feathers mixed in also so more options 🤣

    Silkie Color help!

Thank you! I think the 2 polish/silkie mix will be hard to guess also. The rest are all silkie, 1 dark, 3 light partridge & 1 reddish partridge. I'm curious to see the difference in the partridge since the one is red and the rest are so light. I've heard of buff, silver, and red partridge but...

    Silkie Color help!

Hey yall 😊 we are hatching our first eggs this week with the help of broody hens. Trying to figure out chick colors now 🤔 8 total, 5 are silkies, 2 are silkie/polish, 1 hopefully olive egger. (OE is a EE/ welsummer cross I threw in) I know the dark chick #1 & #3 came from polish egg so they...

    Silkie - cockerel/hen?

Silkies are generally super hard to sex but with a comb that big at 5 weeks I'd feel pretty confident saying cockerel

How many chickens does everyone have?

21 adults, 12 nearly coop ready, 4 almost off heat, just hatched 8 under broody hen and and 4 due to hatch in <2 weeks. So I doubled our flock this year if they all stay 😅 My husband may make me sleep in the coop if he does the math 🤣

This is how I'm leaning as well (or at least hopeful for 🤞) The 2 hardest to tell and but I love them so I obsess every year for months 🤭 Last year I got 6 silkies and 5 were roos 🙃

Wanda and Pearl also throw me since I believe they are failure to thrive they aren't feathering out ir growing at the same rate 😔 these photos were when I got them in January. And a group shot showing size differences (Wanda is in middle up again Joe Dirt, Pearl toward bottom)

That's the problem I have as well! I think well it looks like streamers on all which makes me think I'm overthinking it 🤣 I will say, what I think I'm seeing as streamers are nothing like what my older white roo or Joe Dirt have, theirs are much more distinct and twice as long.

Thought I'd get some opinions on my growout pen. I have 1 who is confirmed roo (mottled showgirl with cross beak), Joe Dirt started crowing at least 4 weeks ago. But no one else has joined in 🤷‍♀️ Silkies are roughly 16-20 weeks, including the tiny black and tiny white ones that arent growing...
