Even your original hens aren't laying in the boxes? Were they before the newbies came? I have 10 younger hens who still get pushed out of nesting boxes (a year later) and lay in all the places too.
This is what has always worked for me... I keep my newbies in a large enclosure, with a small entrance, inside the same coop - from day one. That way when small, they can get in and out without the larger flock being able to reach them. I open up the small entrance around 4 weeks old. This way...
I had two hens who hatched slightly staggered clutches at the same time (within days). These were Buff Brahmas. It was awful once they started hatching. They wanted to kill each other and steal each others chicks. After two days of fighting and stressing out my entire flock, I separated them...
You can always keep antibiotics on hand - JEDDS BIRD SUPPLIES.
That said, I've had really good luck using ivermectin regiment, as an antiviral combined with oregano oil added to food (combined with a carrier oil - I use coconut), VetRx (just rubbed on nose and beak), nutri drench and a day or...
I've had luck with Exzolt and S76. You can by Exzolt at https://pestiless.com/product/exzolt-50-ml-fluralaner/
It's not cheap, but it goes a ways.
I buy S76 from https://ladygouldian.com/S76-air-sac-mite-treatment
Not really cheap either, if you dose 3 days one week-2 day the second week-1 day...
Thanks Debbie. We have been running dehumidifiers for months we have the house down to and keep it at 35%. It does help tremendously so do air purifiers w/ ionization, but not a cure. I wish it was. We are doing much better, though we had to get rid of two couches (very nice leather) and I think...
Premo is made from plant based enzymes. It will assist you in breaking down the "glue" holding those eggs on. In my experience it doesn't kill fast enough and there isn't any residual killing time. Though I was dealing with NFM and tropical fowl mites.
PSP will kill for a while and in my...
I just very liberally mix it in with bedding. Im using boric acid powder no too. There is a lot of it so I can toss the bedding every morning are-coat the bedding if that makes sense
1. I am using garden sulfur >>https://www.amazon.com/Bonide-PRODUCTS-142-Sulphur-Fungicide/dp/B0035H7V34/ref=sr_1_5_pp?crid=1II7HUTR2BVEZ&keywords=sulfur&qid=1696277214&sprefix=sukfur%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-5&th=1
I started with organic sulfur, but I had to find ways to cut back on the money.
2. I...
You have to shock with ozone generators or you run the risk of degasing finishes in your house, which can be very toxic. 30 mins on, 40 rest time repeat 3-4 times daily. Each room. The problem is you chase them from room to room is you are hitting them simultaneously. Now this doesn't mean you...
My experience over the last 5 months is DE is useless once you have an infestation. I plowed through 30lbs and it had zero effect. I wish I would have started with the sulfur and boric acid/borax from the get go. The DE put me behind the ball.
I'm using sulfur in the coop, enclosure and their dust bath. Its does help. Its been part of my 20 prong battle plan, lol. Baking soda has helped too. Salt, borax and sulfur are regular deliverfor me now.
