Who here has chickens for pets?
I haven’t run meat birds for more than a couple decades. My birds are for egg production, and as such I can’t help that they become pets.- Rock Home Isle

Sun or shade
In summer…it’s nice for there to be shade to keep the coop a bit cooler. But in Missouri…that could be relative. Winter is a time of year where a bit of sunshine in appreciated, towards warming things a bit. With my current flock, I’ve gone back to my roots with 1/2 the flock. I have 4 Buff Orpingtons. The other 1/2 of the flock are my 4 little ISA Browns.- Rock Home Isle

I took a bit of a hiatus from chickens, about 3 years. Reason being…I inherited a dog that was chicken lethal. It took some time, but now he believes his job is to guard and not kill. His name is Zeus…and I love him dearly- Rock Home Isle

Yeah...I just realized that my response to your post WAS WAY OFF...Please forgive my error. So...They are laying like crazy. I have my 4 original layers and my 6 replacement pullets.
