We have broke records for the past three day being over 100. Monday it was 105. I have lost 2 big laying hens since Tuesday. I am going to have to try that mister idea.
We drilled about a dozen 4 inch diameter holes all over the coop, opened the doors and put wire in front of them to try...
I just found another hen that apparently prolapsed an egg but I did not find her until after she tore herself getting it out and the wound was full of maggots. This is the second hen in that last 2 to 3 months that I have found like this.
The first hen healed after about 1 month but I am not...
Three more babies hatched today. Two are alive. One never got to hatch before the hen pecked it on the head killing it. It would have been a pretty baby.
LOL...it is soooo addicting. I never expected to allow my hens to hatch eggs but now I am in love with my new babies. I have about 10 more eggs to hatch and have just decided to take them from the mother after they hatch. The hens have finally calmed down after trying to kill the one chick...

I am excited cause my tiny baby made it through the night. *happy dance* I checked this morning out in the nest and there is another egg with a hole starting so hopefully the mom will not try to kill that one and I can have another fuzzy friend for the one live baby I have now.
Thank you so much for the advice. I agree that I am just going to try and raise it. Hopefully it will have another feathered friend tomorrow. Until then I found some of the dogs stuffed toys to put in with it.
