I'm not a early bird by any way, so this is just perfect!!

Ok I have had our Ador1 for quite a few weeks now. I am impressed. I love it. It is awesome! I have nothing bad to say about the door. I just leaned it up against the coop in the spot where I thought I wanted it. I was unsure because of shade if it would work properly in that spot. It did so we installed. So easy. The only thing I would say that is even kind of negative is that I waited a long time to receive my door. I knew they were a small company so I cut them some slack. I finally called to check on it and got a live person on the phone who was very nice. He informed me that it was scheduled to ship out that day. I think we got it 2 days later. He was apologetic and explained that they had some problems with some back ordered parts. Can I just say it looks so good! The chickens are outside before I would even get to them, which means less poop inside. Very happy with this purchase.

I own two of these and they work great, customer support is awesome to.

I purchased this door a few week ago and could not be happier. I read review after review and decided to give the new kid on the block a chance and glad I did. I contacted the company before I purchased it with a few questions. The customer service has been quick and friendly. It was easy to program and very easy to install. The door runs very smooth and it seems to be made very strong. The major reasons I decided to go with this door:

Runs on battery
Ease of installation
Can change programming of the photo-sensor
Last call feature (which has come in handy since I have one that lingers at night)

I leave for work when it is still dark in the morning. So being a good chicken mother I wanted to install this on a Friday night so I could be home to make sure it opened in the morning! For the first couple of days I poked my head outside to make sure it opened and closed. (I am sure most people do the same). The manufacturer recommends installation on the outside of the coop for the sensor to work correctly. I chose to install it inside since there are two windows and so far it has worked like a charm.

Well we went with the ador door because they had the best price. It arrived very quickly. My husband never reads instructions(at least not before he tries at least once). The door was very easy to install. Looks great. We mounted it in a steel building that we built our coop inside of. The worst part was cutting the steel. Once thats done the door easily goes into place. Hooked up the battery and its worked great every day since. Now here comes the not reading the instructions. In the beginning the chickens did not know to go in at night and we would go out and find them huddled up next to door in the dark. Never realized the big green button was a manuel door opener. If someone would have read the instructions we would have saved lots of time. we were opening the top and unhooking the door to let them in. Now we know better. All in all this door works great. I actually think the chickens hear the beep beep and make a mad dash inside. I just ordered the wire kit so that you can install an inside opener button. I think that will be great in winter if you want to shut the coop in a blizzard or really bad storm. I Hope it works this well in a year.

2 years old, still going strong

I've owned the ADOR1 since July and it opens at sunrise and closes at sunset every day. A big time saver for me. I plan on adjusting it so that it opens a few hours after sunrise to hopefully get my 5month old birds laying soon.

I ordered the door so my neighbors did not have to worry about opening and closing the coop while we were going on vacation. I ordered it 2.5 weeks before vacation, and it did not arrive until after we returned from vacation. I did not get any status from the company, but when I emailed them I did get a reply quickly. They said they were waiting on parts do to high demand and had no expected date.

Once we got the door it was easy to install and we have had no problems with it. very simple with no wires or sensors to run. The coop is in the shade under trees, but even on cloudy days we do not have problems with it closing too early.

I picked this door because it was all-in-one and battery powered. I did not want to run power or have to buy a solar panel or sensing unit for the other automatic doors I looked at.

I would recommend this door to anyone.

Installed the Ador1 for in 10 minutes. Plugged in the battery and tested it a few times. Left it open and came back at sunset to see how it worked.
Found the door closed, but 6 of my 10 week old pullets "roosting" on the ramp outside the coop in the secure run. Pushed the button, the door opened and I pushed the pullets inside.
The next morning, opened at sunrise and the pullets filed out. The second night - all of them were inside when the door shut. And every night since. No problems, no issues. Works every time. 3 months with no issues.

After doing A LOT of research, I felt that this one was the best design. I felt that my chickens would be safest with the sprocket design rather than the roll up string.

I called the company to see if the door had shipped and when I could expect its arrival; I'm horrible about checking email. I spoke to Rod, he was extremely helpful and gave me some pointers. I was stressed because we were going on vacation for 2 weeks, we didn't want anyone to have to be a slave to our chicken door and we didn't want them to not be secure at night. When we returned home, the door was still working perfectly and we have had no issues with the Ador1! We couldn't be more satisfied!!

We have had to push back the door closing time since we put up an awning to prepare for winter, it took away from some of the ambient lighting. This has been one of our best purchases!! Purchased 29 May, 2017

This thing went in easily to our newly constructed coop, it looks nice and has performed reliably since install. We have had to operate it manually a few times to keep our young chickens in the coop and out of the rain, otherwise it opens and closes like it should and our chickens have been safely in the coop at night. I could not ask for anything more. I'm really happy with it, would recommend it to anyone looking for an automatic door.

One month of summer operation, and the door has worked flawlessly. The new pullets adjusted to it well. Am interested to see how the battery works in the cold weather, so a review update may be in order.

We purchased the door about three months ago, and it works as promised. My husband claims that it was very easy to install (definitely didn't take him long), and it is very solid and well built. We use the "last call" option, since we have a couple of chickens who are a little slow to come in at night. Overall, it works very well, and I would highly recommend it. Installing this door (along with an automatic waterer) has DEFINITELY made our lives easier! No more rushing home in a panic to make sure we lock the chickens up at night!

Have this since Thanksgiving 2013 as we were leaving town for 5 days, worked seamlessly allowing our chicken "caretaker" to take his time...No problems with almost 0 degree weather lately, however I do keep the manual "pop door" closed inside on these super cold nights to keep the heat in as the door is sheet metal with little holes for the slide mechanism.

I installed an AdorStore pop door mid-summer. I was very happy to not have to be outside sun-up and sun-down to open/close the door for the birds. The door has proven reliable and worked well. I had a kid over seeing the birds at one point and she pushed the button to close the door and then while it was closing, stuck her hand under it. The door gently reversed and went back up. She was given no other chances to harm the door so I can't speak to what else it would have been able to handle graciously. It seemed that the pressure applied to her hand wouldn't have been enough to hurt a bird should it get stuck underneath. The chances of a bird getting stuck are small as the door travel speed is quite low.

The door is designed in such a way that I feel a raccoon or other four footed predator would have a very difficult time getting the door opened.

Installation was easy and quick. I was very happy with that. I already had a door opening with a board on hinges. After removing that, I had to resize the opening a bit. Once done, the door screwed on and I was done. As I recall, I was a little underwhelmed at the mounting screws included so I used some beefier ones I had on hand.

The daylight sensor for opening/closing has worked great. There was one evening the birds were under the coop due to rain, and the door closed before they made it in. One other time two of the birds were outside after the door closed, not sure why. Otherwise, it has worked great for the birds and their schedule.

After six months of use, we had excessive low temps overnight. It was -8 this morning. The door was only half-way open this morning. I will be purchasing a new battery this afternoon and believe that will take care of the problem. Their website estimates three years of use, I didn't think, in the midwest, it would last that long, But, even if I have to feed it a battery or two a year, that's not bad.

The only reason I docked a half-star from the review is that it is battery powered. While it is a nice feature, I have power at my coop. When I bought the door, the AC adapter was pretty (meaning prohibitively) expensive. Now, I notice on their site they suggest a rechargeable lantern battery and cord that they picked up at WalMart. Having just seen this, I may modify my WalMart shopping list for this afternoon. That seems like a great option.

All in all, a super door. If you can afford it, you won't regret purchasing it. Seems to be one of (if not the) best on the market.

My ADOR1 has only been running for a few months, but it has been 100% reliable for us so far.

I find trying to override the "auto function" during daylight hours frustrating though. The door appears VERY determined to "re-open" regardless of how I use the buttons. This has led to some swearing, as the door re-opens when I want to limit chickens within the run. After being manually closed, Mr. Solar Cell Goblin still stubbornly takes over to do what he wants? May The Force be with you...?

Otherwise, when the door is allowed to be fully automatic, it has run flawlessly for me. An acquaintance a few miles away from us (sells many dozens of eggs), had his door fail to close a couple times at nightfall, which resulted in a fox feast one of the nights (he has had the door for three-plus years). He did not feel that the battery was low, so was quite annoyed, upon losing his hens.

To date, I have been elated with with the "auto setting" of the door. Works like magic. Cool.

The folks at AdorStore are working through their backlog, so my wait wasn't too long, My only issue, and it's not huge, is the battery life, but it's cold, and it just sucks the battery down. Now, because of the battery, I didn't have to worry about running power to the coop, at this time!
So, here's what I'm doing, there is a nifty little 6volt, 4.5Ah battery on amazon, some in the $5 range, that battery will run circles around the lantern battery, and it's rechargeable...add a $10 solar panel to trickle charge the battery, an it should last for a long while. I'll add any new info, and report back my results.
The dawn to dusk feature is fantastic, no resetting timers every few days

bottom line, if you need an automatic door, and can't run power to the coop, this is your answer

I had seen that some folks had problems with there Ador1 units, but mine has worked without issue. I opted for the recessed installation and that has worked out well. There are some options I'd like to explore like the option to close the door earlier and open it later. To do this sort of "programming" you have to remove two set screws and remove the unit's cover, unclip the battery with one hand, hold down a button with the other hand, re-attach the battery, wait for lights to flash, then press a button some required number of times. I understand why it is this way but it's a real pain. I think a bank of DIP switches would have been better. But, it is what it is.
On the other had, there's also the option to install a separate and remote light sensor which could be useful. Better yet, for me, is that you can install a remote open/close switch. This defeats the automatic light sensing feature but might be useful. Better yet, however, you can connect a 3-way switch that will either open the door, close it, or leave in in automatic mode. This is what I'm working on doing now. My Ador1 is located inside the run which is attached to the coop. So to operate the standard button, I have to stoop down and enter the run and press the button and close the run door again. With the 3-way remote switch I can walk right up to the coop and hit the switch. No muss, no fuss. The problem is that you have to figure this out yourself, pretty much. There's a useful diagram on the Ador1 web site, but you're on your own as far as figuring out what parts to use and how to use them. Easy enough for an electrically inclined person, not so easy for others. I'll post a thread about this if it works out.

I was amazed by the quality and simplicity of the design. It was very easy to install as well.

Mine is intalled on a chicken tractor, so I have to be conscious of its proximity/orientation to exterior lighting, otherwise it is fully automatic and trouble free.

Rod (the company owner, I presume) is very helpful both before and after the sale and easily accessible.

We purchased this door some time ago and really like it. We are a little disappointed in the noise it makes when opening and closing. I thought that the chickens would be scared silly at first however they don't seem to mind at all now.
