Cons: Can fly away, dig holes in yard, eggs are small
Mallard ducks are cute and quiet. They also come up to you like a doggy. The bad thing about them is that they could fly away if they wanted to. They are also dabbling ducks, so they dig holes in your yards. They also lay the smallest and least amount of eggs compared to many other duck breeds. Overall, they bring joy to the backyard!
Cons: Do not stand up for themselves with other ducks, noisier breed
My Rouens are friendly and will come and eat out of my hand. They don't fly over fences and make me search for them, like my Mallards do. They are overall calm when I let them out of their pen. The thing that I do not care for about this breed is that they are quite noisy. Although most of this depends on the individual duck, it is common in my small flock of Rouens. (Sorry for the lack of details. This is my first review.)
