These birds are some of the best egg layers! And, previous experience, they live quite a good long laying life...
Let me tell you what...we had the TOUGHEST time just figuring out what our chicken was! For the first few weeks i truly thought she was a bird or a quail lol! We have a silver duckwing hen(Popcorn) and she's the smallest chicken in our coop. Popcorn tries not to be at the bottom of the pecking order...but being small has its ups and downs. She can drink underneath all the others plus she gets the little treats runs runs fast to hide from the big girls.

We only have one of these beauties in our coop, and I wish we had more! Ours is a golden laced male named Reeses and boy he knows he's pretty. He has a flighty, somewhat aggressive personality but they are beautiful to look at! So far, our chickens aren't old enough to be too aggressive with each other, but i have a feeling we will be separating him from some of the others..it will be a plus if we plan to show him anyway!

We were pleasantly suprised when we found that, when we bought our straight-run from a farm store, we lucked up with this awesome and beautiful breed. We have 1 male and 2 females (Mille Fluer-bearded). The females are very submisive to our larger chickens and the male has pride. He and another bantam in the coop have been working on setting a pecking order...but overall they have personality without being too aggressive.
