Pros: Social, talkative, friendly, docile, playful, good eggs, fun to watch, water lovers! Need a companion.
Cons: They can make messes, can be very vocal during the warmer temperatures, can be skittish and easily spooked.
My mother in law to be owns two Khaki Campbell females (whom we thought was a boy and a girl and turned out to be two girls, but that's okay because that's more eggs for us! They are very loving ducks - sometimes can be a little shy and don't want to be bothered with. Usually they'll come to you if they want attention. They can be very social birds and they LOVE to talk - at least her's do! They also love to play, especially in water. If you have a water source of any kind whether it's a pool, a pond (man made or natural), or even a mud puddle - they are in it and they will get very muddy. It's like they live for the mud! She gets one egg a day each from them, so they are very good egg layers. I would recommend a companion for yours, typically of the same breed so they have someone to hang out with and aren't lonely. They can also be very vocal during warmer months I noticed - unless they are in distress then they can be very loud, but typically they are quiet as long as everything is going their way inside their habitat. They can be skittish and easily spooked - so if you want a KC, I would get them as babies and handle them as much as possible if you can!

Otherwise I love these two!

Pros: Very beautiful birds, quiet, friendly, cute, good egg layers, their eggs are huge!
I absolutely love Muscovies! They are very friendly ducks and very quiet - the females do quack but it isn't loud for the whole universe to hear. The male hisses and that is also quiet. They are not really aggressive birds if they are tamed. They can be a little shy at first but once they see you enough they warm right up to you and love you almost instantly. The males can get very large and that really isn't a con to me because they are an outdoor bird, but if you have an issue with size - a Muscovy wouldn't be right for you because they can get up to at least 15 or more pounds. Their eggs are also very big! Muscovies do fly and if you don't want them to, clip their wings. Typically they will just roost anywhere around your property and hang out. They are very laid back birds and are fun to watch.

Pros: Very friendly, docile, beautiful birds, lay good eggs, mostly hang out and roost
Cons: Rooster crows A LOT, females can be a bit vocal too, can be stubborn
My mother in law to be acquired five Speckled Sussex hens and one Speckled Sussex rooster. This is the first time of owning this breed and I have to say that I am very impressed with how friendly and docile they are - including the rooster! They did come from a family who did handle them often and kept them free range so not every hen and rooster is going to behave like mine do. The rooster you can just pick up and carry around and he won't have a care in the world. They are also very beautiful birds - I love the colors of the hen and the plumage of the rooster is absolutely GORGEOUS!! The way his feathers shine and the coloring just keeps your attention. He's a beautiful guy! They haven't laid for me just yet but I heard that their eggs are very good and they mostly just hang out and roost and don't really bother with anyone or anything. They do come up to you when they first see you so they are very social and friendly!

The cons... All roosters crow, but for some reason I think mine crows a lot more than usual and also loud! If you live in a small town and have a backyard homestead - I recommend holding off on getting a rooster of any kind especially this one because he crows occasionally during the day. (Usually starts in the early morning but sometimes he'll wait until the sun is up higher.) Most of the time he will be quiet. The females can also be vocal too if they want to - it's surprising how vocal they are that it's actually funny! Them being vocal also adds on to them being stubborn, especially the roo. But overall - these are very good birds and I am having a great experience with them!

Pros: Very friendly birds, rapid growth, adorable babies, very good meat, easy to care for
Cons: Need more probiotics from hatcheries, can be a constant upkeep because of droppings!, eat A LOT
This was my first year doing Cornish Cross chickens. I haven't had any personal problems with my chickens regarding their health. I decided to keep one as a pet even though they are very short lived (being females). They are in fact very friendly birds, they grow way too fast, adorable when they are babies, easy to care for like a regular chicken, and they have very good meat. However, when you get them from a hatchery they need more probiotics and vitamins, they can be very dirty birds when it comes to their bathroom habits, and they can be an expensive feed because they eat a lot.

If you want to keep some as hens or just regular pets, make sure you give them enough vitamins and probiotics and limit their feeding if you don't want them to grow rapidly because they eat so much.
