Calls originated in either Holland or England as live decoy ducks back in the 1600's. Call ducks are no longer used for decoys, and it is illegal to use one as a decoy in Britain. Calls were the only duck bred specifically for their loud voice and extremely small size. They were bred for this unique style so they could be easily tucked into a coat pocket and taken along on hunts. Now one of the most popular breed of waterfowl and also in the top 5 exhibition breeds with the APA/ABA with the 2014 Ohio nationals(ABA 100th anniversary national meet) exhibiting over 1,000 calls total out of over 9,000 birds exhibited.

Annoying, that’s all
Pros: Low maintenance, very cute, easy to raise, cheerful personalities, bold, smart, high demand by buyers
Cons: Very loud, low fertility, messy ducklings (this goes for all ducks), very predator prone, good fliers, escape artists, poor flocking instincts, naughty, hard to herd inside at night, don’t like being near people.
Calls have been raised for years on my farm, and every year I like them less.
They are just annoying when they need something or get separated or just want to be loud. They have to be herded in at night and are difficult about it. They also fly the fence a lot. They have a netted pen, but the second they escape they are a target to hawks and foxes. The males have poor fertility. Other than that they are easy to raise. Maybe I would like a drake flock better.

i respectfully dissagree
Nice
Pros: Small, easy to maintain, do not poop much at all, calm
Cons: Females are loud sometimes
These ducks are very small compared to my other ducks. They are very calm and friendly. They surprisingly do not poop much at all, especially for a duck and they also eat minimally. I'd recommend for anyone really!
