Keep Chickens! Tending Small Flocks in Cities, Suburbs, and Other Small Spaces

Chickens are hot! There's a chicken-farming boomlet on the rise, with upscale urban and suburban...
Just what I needed when a chicken wandered into our garage last October, soaking wet from the rain. Perfect for beginners and those curious about flocks in small areas.

Pros: Covers everything you need to know about keeping chickens in small places!
Cons: It only talks about raising chickens in the city so if you are wanting to raise chickens in the country, this book won't do much for you:(
This is a wonderful book for anyone who is looking to raise just a few hens in their backyard. It has helped me soooo much! I highly recommend this book to urban chicken keepers!

Pros: Covers all the essential information you need to get started keeping chickens.
Cons: Better for the chicken hobbyist than the rural homesteader.
This is the book I always recommend to anyone getting started with chickens. It covers all the essential information you need to get started without being overwhelming. There may be other books you'll want to read later, those getting more in-depth about all the many different breeds, poultry diseases, large-flock management, processing and culling, etc. But for those whose interest in chickens is just beginning to pip, and for those newly-hatched and needing the most basic information on chicken care, this is a great book to begin with.
