If the new comers are chicks....brood them where they can be seen and heard by the established flock....even set their brooder right off the older birds coop....it will give the birds a good chance to get to know each other...safely! Once the newcomers are fully feathered. You can make them a "playpen" of Hardware cloth and during the day place the pen with the newcomers in it right in the middle of the established flock territory. With water and food. Now stand back and watch....if the older ones don't pay them much attention...you can relese the new ones into the coop at night with as little fuss as possible. Don't talk. Just set the newcomers on a vacant perch....away from the flock. Shut the lights out and leave. This will I've the new and old birds a whole night to get used to being in the same coop. Always watch closely when introducing strangers to the established flock. If a tussle breaks out...you will be able to break it up, before anyone gets hurt. Note the aggressor! If he or she doesn't back off! Remove him to a separate cage until the flock goes to roost. Once they have settled in...bring the trouble maker in and set him or her on their familiar roost or close....and shut out the lights. They should mix well if you are patient and take your time...let them get to know the strangers and accept them...with a fence between them. No one gets hurt...and your bantams will be a lot happier, If you do it this way.
I know some people just get new birds and toss them in with the flock...It is an ignorant lazy way to do it. it causes unnecessary stress both parties....not to mention possible injurinjuries....even death. Hope all went well!
