I have a Crele cock and a unknown color hen and they are pretty cool.Would probably pick my Standard Americans oer them though. They were originally designed as ornaments and that's all they are to me.

Pros: Friendly, quiet, thrifty. A delightful bantam breed that does well in warm and cold weather.
Cons: Some of them are not interested in being handled.
These little birds are mostly friendly. Even those that don't want to be handled are content being in human company; they just don't want to be held.

One of my roosters is a regular at the kitchen table. My husband has taken quite the interest in my littlest rooster and feels that he needs to visit inside occasionally. Red (the rooster) seems to enjoy being the center of attention and is content to wander about.

They lay a nice small egg and none of mine are interested in being broody.

Pros: sociable, friendly, gorgeous, pocket size : )
Cons: somewhat flighty, extremely adventurous, aggressive in some situations
OEGBs are most definitely my favorite breed of chickens! My very favorite hen I ever had was a silver duckwing Old English hen named Blaze, and she was the sweetest, cutest thing. She would run up to you to say hi (she wasn't really a cuddler, but I think that if I had spent more time with her, she would have been) and loved to greet and socialize. Blaze was also one of the calmest hens I have ever met. She would put up with daisy chains, back-to-back second grade show and tell (for my brother) and a seventh grade biology lesson (for me), and on one notable occasion, a chicken diaper. We never needed to watch the chickens too closely when Blaze was around, as in her short two years, she battled against three hawks and six cats, and won each time. She was a tough cookie, also winning many battles against my blue Crocs (which were my coop shoes at that time). She died suddenly just after turning two, for reasons still mysterious to us. She was the spunkiest, most character-filled, adorable little hen I have ever had the privilege to own.

That's her!^

Pros: Dog-like, friendly, cute crows, shoulder bird
Cons: Not for egg/meat production
Pranks, the best rooster ever, had to go live on another farm because of his beautiful squeaky exuberant crowing. He liked to sit on my shoulder and pretend he was tall, when we asked him if he wanted up, he would shimmy sideways in a flirty way. So awesome. What a wonderful pet.

Pros: VERY Small, Quiet Crowing, Minimal Crowing, Decorative
Cons: Small Eggs, Dubbed for Show, Can Fly High
I love my OEGB, they are the smallest chickens I've ever owned. Their shear size is intriguing. These are fantastic chickens that I would recommend to just about anyone. They are a little flighty but can be tamed fairly easily. I love the crowing from Otis my BBRed rooster (funny) - because he's so small its ridiculous and he really tries and not much of a sound comes out, it's like ERR *BLANK* Ehh

Pros: Self-sufficient, hardy, smart, protective, funny, beautiful
Cons: These are not pets, they are lawn ornaments
I purchased my first OEG from a guy that showed bantams but was changing focus and wanted to get rid of the birds. I got an award winning show rooster and some gorgeous ladies for $15. They supplied me with tiny eggs, many of which I successfully hatched (80% hatch, 60% survival) despite having no experience and a cheap tabletop incubator. The chicks were all brown red (like the rooster) although I did manage to get one blue (like the hens).

They have a reputation for being aggressive, but I've found that as long as there is never more than one rooster, they are very well mannered. The rooster, who can't weigh more than 20oz soaking wet, keeps ALL the ladies in line, and has managed to fertilize the eggs of my large breeds (watching them flatten themselves on the ground to accommodate him is pretty funny). The hens are almost like pigeons, cautious and flighty, they don't take food from my hand or allow themselves to be touched. They hide their eggs from me but don't give me any trouble when I finally find the nest. Most of the hens have been taken by hawks, but the rooster has fought snakes, dogs, and cats in an attempt to keep his flock safe, and if there's a predator around, the entire neighborhood knows about it. One remaining hen is so ornery I'm convinced she'd scream her way out of any predator's clutches. She screams at the songbirds that steal the chicken feed, she screams at the rooster when she's ended up on the other side of the fence, she screams at the other hens when they crowd her on the roost, she screams at the dogs when they try to dig through the compost pile... she means business.

They aren't quiet, but they are smart, and funny. They learn that the sound of the kitchen window opening means that there are scraps coming. They anticipate my arrival in the yard and follow me around while I do chores. They're not unfriendly, they're just not tame. My tiny rooster's antics are so popular he's a facebook superstar! I've recently acquired more OEG, and I am suspicious that these are not bantams, as the pullets are only 20 weeks old and are already twice as big as my rooster. They have two speeds, run and stop, and they move across the yard like a herd of velociraptors. The books always describe these birds as aggressive and best left to the experienced breeder. Nobody told me that before I got started, and I guess that's why I don't have any trouble. I didn't know any better!

I started with silkies, so I went from cuddly pets to loud yard ornaments, but I enjoy them both immensely. If you want pretty chickens that take care of themselves and you aren't concerned with egg or meat production, I don't know how you could go wrong with this breed.

Pros: calm, affectionate
Cons: Small
Our Cadbury is our sweetest chicken out of the 18 we have. She chases us around the yard wanting to be picked up. She is very tiny, at 8 weeks old she's barely the size of a robin. She is a tough little bird though....always holds her ground with treats. I think it's very humorous to watch all the bigger chicks jumping all over each other to get to food and water but Cadbury just walks right up underneath all of them and helps herself. Highly recommended.

I got a batch of 13 chicks born easter 2012, bantams old english game BBR's and Crele, I have 3 Crele Roos and one BBR roo 4 crele hens and 5bbr hens, I have a coop that they can walk on the ground and they love it. after a few days in the coup I could open the door and they would fly out and run around eating bugs and having fun in the dirt. at sundown they would go right back into there box. I let them run about the yard ( while I am outside) and at first they wouldnt go far from there box, but now they are all over the yard, I have two large evergreen trees and theys love to get into the branches, all my roo's are crowing now with diffrent little voices. out of the 13 spoiled little chickens, there is a special one, the BBR roo, as he is so smart, from the first day I got the chicks he came running to my hands, I have given them treats and he will take them outta my hands and is always first one to come running to me in the yard when he feels in dangered or has found a great bug he wants to try to eat before the others take it, which is hilarious by the way if you have ever watched them. I am very new to having chickens and this is my first breed, and I am glad I picked them. My Roo will step into my hand and will "sometimes" crow on request. they are all getting strong from getting good exercise running and flying in the yard. they love watermellon, worms and peaches. still discovering new things with them. maybe my BBR will be ready for a show someday.

This is just about the whole families favorite chicken. The description of being pugnacious is perfect. She is hearty, can fly just enough, and reliably lays about 3-4 eggs per week. She also has the cutest little voice and chortles to me all the time. Tons of personality!

Let me tell you what...we had the TOUGHEST time just figuring out what our chicken was! For the first few weeks i truly thought she was a bird or a quail lol! We have a silver duckwing hen(Popcorn) and she's the smallest chicken in our coop. Popcorn tries not to be at the bottom of the pecking order...but being small has its ups and downs. She can drink underneath all the others plus she gets the little treats runs runs fast to hide from the big girls.

Pros: Fun to have in the yard, excellent mothers
Cons: Can fly well
Nobody can turn as ordinary occurence in to a five alarm emergency like an OEGB. Those who have some know what I mean. The ARE noisy, but that is part of the fun. They are great and protective moms. If I could have only one breed of chickens, these would probably not be the ones (I do have to consider egg production), but they would certainly be number two. I never want to be without them.

Pros: Make Beautiful adults
Cons: Flighty and loud noise makers
We have bought two of these from the assorted bantams section at TSC and ours are still very young but right away they want to try flying out of the brooder when they see us walking up to them. They are also very vocal and loud and at times 'peep' non-stop, lol! From all I've been reading in reviews however, they make wonderful birds so we'll post updates as ours grow.

Pros: excellent layers, setters, flyers
Cons: hmmmm...
These are very colorful, boisterous, and proud little birds! The hens make the best mothers, and the roosters are too cute to watch strut their stuff. I had a breeding group that consisted of four hens and one rooster, and Travis (the roo) would help feed the chicks, and the hens!. I often had more than one clutch of eggs hatch out, and it was a group effort on thier part raising all the chicks--none of my hens pecked on each others babies. AND they make really good free range birds--these babies can run! And because of their light build FLY--far!

Of all the chickens I've ever had I love my OEG the most. Absolutely the smartest breed I've had. Best mother too. My cochin was also a sweet mother but was to timid to protect her chicks from other hens. The tiny OEG would stand her ground! Mine was a Silver duck wing. Her name was Georgia and I miss her dearly. A small hawk swooped down and scooped her up right in front of me! I have to say she was great at getting away from any other type of preditor she was very alert and would fly up out of the reach of dogs ect.. She was great at foraging and loved my attention. She seemed to pose for pictures! I have 5 OEG crele on the way now and hope I can find one with a similar personality.

Oh! and everyone loves the tiny eggs hard boiled!

My OEGs have been very vocal, friendly, and fearless. One got a little too bossy for me, and had to move to another coop. No problem with the others. Willingly fly up to me to be petted and loved on.
