Omlet Automatic Coop Door

battery-powered chicken coop door
Pros: -easy to install
-safety sensor on door for peace of mind
-doesn't require power in coop
-reliable
Cons: -expensive
I love my automatic coop door! I had originally been planning to DIY one, but other house projects were more important and I wanted to have this installed before leaving town for a couple of weeks. I've had no issues to speak of so far. The opener is encased in really nice weather-proof housing, which is super helpful since I live in Florida. The installation was a breeze. I don't have power in my coop, so I love that it takes batteries and it looks like one of the inputs could be used to hook up a solar panel, though I haven't tried it yet. I had to play with the settings to find the right sensitivity for the light sensor, but it works like a charm.

Update: I noticed that the door was no longer closing a couple of weeks ago and found that the batteries had leaked acid, even though the case is weather-proof and I used high quality batteries. I called the company and they are sending out a replacement board for free. I'm a bit bummed that it didn't even last a year, but am happy that the company is standing by the product and will be more diligent about checking up on the unit occasionally.
