Pros: very entertaining and gets along well with our chickens. I love this breed!
These ducks are very entertaining! We have one pekin with 13 chickens. I love watching her most of all. She has quite the personality!
Pros: SO loving and a wonderful Pet
Cons: Can be mean at times
I LOVE MY PEKIN!!!! I have an 8 month old pekin duck named Caesar! He is a wonderful bird and i couldnt ask for anything else
Pros: Big, fluffy and sweet! Eggs are great for baking! Cuddlebugs. Funny and silly too.
Great watchducks!
Cons: While they are great egg layers, dont trust them to sit on a nest.
I have a mated pair I raised from 3 days old and they are wonderful! They absolutely adore my 2 year old son and he loves them. They are very patient and Donald, the male, loves to "race" with me. Ill run and he'll run with me and come in for cuddles. They are a very powerful breed and make great watch "dogs" for any intruders that come into the yard.

Pros: Sweet, adorable ducklings, big fluffy birds, good layers, amazing pets!
Cons: Not broody.
My first duck ever was a Pekin that I bought at the feed store a few years ago. Since the first day I had her, I fell in love with her. She slept in a shoebox under a little blanket I had made the year before for baby bunnies, next to my bed :D She would cry when I was gone and snuggle :) When she was an adult, she really was a spectacular looking duck. She was pure, snow white with beautiful black/blue eyes, and big orange feet and beak. She laid an egg every day and was very quick in doing so. She wasn't picky where she laid. She would even lay just randomly sitting in a hole one of of the chickens had dug out. Then her time came and she passed away soon after she got hit by a car. :hit :hit :hit :(I really loved her and would recommend any duck owner, who has not done so, to buy a pekin and see how wonderful they are :)
Pros: mine are affectionate, smart, and easy keepers
Cons: not broody
love them

Pros: friendly, love water, easy going
Cons: messy, poo alot
I have two, one died, I got another. She died from metal poisoning. My drake is a sweetheart, accepted the new duck instantly. They are very friendly, tame, talk to each older a lot, great with kids, stay in the yard, listen when called. They are great. The only thing bad I can even say about them is my female is messy because she poops so much and a lot. I'm working on changing her diet, she's farm fed and raised, my drake I've had from a baby so his diet is different. When I move, I'll get more. I want to try different breeds but just because. There are a million reasons I would never give my Pekins up!

Pros: Personable, loving and silly!
Cons: Can’t think of any except for projectile poops (which happens with any duck lol)
We rescued an abandoned duckling in a nearby lake, and her charming personality has made us have a whole new love for these feathered friends! She is cuddly and loves to follow us around, I highly recommend raising ducks if you’re looking for a loving companion. They need to be kept with other feathered companion!

Pros: The friendliest duck I’ve seen is my male Pekin. He’ll come right up to me, and let me stroke him.
Cons: I’ve had the most health issues with Pekins!
Pros: Excellent Egg Layers, Hilarious, Loves to Play, Soft, Adorable, Easy to Catch, Good with Kids, Hardy in Every Way
Cons: Messy, Loud, Heavy, Hard to tell apart
I had a Pekin as a kid. His name was Jimmy. One night, he got attacked by an unknown predator. I though he was dead because he was laying there with massive holes in his neck. Well, I nursed him back to life, and he lived for many years after that...though he only had one eye after that (made for some good laughs trying to watch him run with his head tilted to one side).

I have Pekins again. I unfortunately ended up with 3 drakes and 1 duck. I haven't had problems yet, though I still plan to get rid of two drakes. They absolutely LOVE their pool. I had to take it away because I was afraid of all the males drowning her. They follow each other in a line which is hilarious. They are soooo soft! I just had my 3-year old and 16-month old nieces petting them yesterday. They loved them. The female is very, very loud. I can hear her in the morning while still penned up all the way from my house. I deal with it, because EVERY morning, there's an egg waiting for me. I had no idea she'd lay this many. I think she may have missed one day so far and has been laying for 2 months now. How could it get better than that??

The boys start to look the same after a while and I can't tell them apart. They are pretty heavy so when they decide to catch a chicken and mate with it, it's painful to watch. If they find a puddle of water, you can bet there will be a mud hole in no time! I left soaker hoses going in my garden earlier this year and they found it. It was then a big clay, mud pit....plus they ate all my lettuce.

Even so, I still love them! I'm sure they're tasty, but I'd have to be starving to eat something that cute. :D
Pros: very friendly
The Pekin is my favorite breed. I have pet ducks only. They are very friendly and with a lot of personality.

Pros: Beautiful white.
Large, heavy
Good Layer
Cons: Mine was a bit skiddish.
I named my Pekin Doris Day. She was a great pet bird! Miss her.
Pros: funny, matures fast, good meat bird (just saying, i dont butcher them), good pet
Cons: fat and slow, eats a lot
they are my favorite duck breed ever. i have heard they lay well, but i didn't list that because mine haven't started yet.
Pros: Super Friendly, even drakes. They only eat what you give, get along with other ducks/ducklings quickly, love water
Cons: Fat ones don't live long, eat a lot, poop a lot
I only have 1 Pekin that we rescued. I named him Frosty and he's the best pet ever. He loves me. I think it's true when they say that a Pekin's friendship towards humans rival that of dogs. We even introduced him to our Muscovy and Magpie ducklings, and he only nibbled their necks and feet every here and there. He loves water, but he gets less and less protective over "his" pool. He only eats what I give him, and he drinks a dog bowl of water a day. I am beginning to let him out with me every morning to get some exercise with the ducklings while I finish up the chickens.

I soaked her feet , removed black scabs and the feet look better but one leg has a wound on the upper leg with a black scab i soaked it removed the scab and black smelly stuff came out , does anyone know if bumblefoot can come out the upper leg area ? I gave her pen g procaine for four days and keep her very clean and isolated and put neosporin on her feet and the leg wound , but her ankle is still swollen but not hot anymore . .she cannot stand but tries to , she eats well and drinks well.
