Premier Brooder Heating Plate

An alternative to a heat lamp, a heating plate simulates a hen keeping chicks warm and cozy...
Awesome
Pros: Much safer than heat lamps and cheaper than Brinsea ones.
Cons: None.
Great for when you can't have a hen with them or its your first chickens. The plastic cover is great, they can't get on top of it period. Recommend this over a Brinsea one. You can make two legs higher than the others if you have different sized chicks. Great.

Pros: less expensive and safer than heat lamps
Cons: You can't see the little cuties because they hide under it! :)
I think this is a great item. Chicks in a natural setting under a broody are able to choose when to get out of the heat so this idea made complete sense to me.

I ordered the clear plastic top with mine so the chicks can't jump on top of it and poop.

Pros: easy to set up, birds seem to love it,easy to clean
Cons: none
I love the heating plate and making plans to buy another one. I have used quail to turkeys and have never lost any birds from been cold. It's safe to use no fears of fire like the heat lamp. the only thing better is a real hen

Pros: Safe. Safe. Safer.
Cons: None. Really.
This works just as it should. It doesn't overheat and the chick really like it. I don't have to worry about a heat lamp fire; which is a real concern.

I would like to see everyone use one of the vice the red-hot lights. Plus the chickens don't get used to having a light on 24/7.

Pros: Economical heat, chicks LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Simple to clean, use, store, and versatile in how you use them. Sturdy. Priced right. I recommend them to everyone. I loan mine out and then they buy their own.
Cons: Can't think of even one. Maybe that I'd like to own at least two more of the two bigger sizes.
These are fabulous. I use them for the hatchlings, the singletons that need their own crib, and or older birds that need some TLC. I double and triple stack them in the brooder for entertainment and for the chicks to pick a level to sleep or perch. Marvelous. I stopped using the clear stick-on plastic as they clean up easily and nicely. Buy as many as you can afford. I have 5 so far would like 7 :) We have raised 100's of chicks with these plates. I actually have three plates stacked now. They love it.

Pros: Keeps chicks quiet and warm. They stay quiet mostly all night. It's safer. An extra temp control cord can be added and it's alot less expensive than Brinsea
Cons: maybe too small for alot of chicks but there are more sizes.
This thing is nothing short of magic. It's my first time trying it and last time trying anything else. I love that they can move out from all sides. My chicks end up scooting and still sleeping far from it and still seem comfortable.

Pros: Safe, easy to clean, fair price, easy to adjust height, chicks love it
Cons: None
I started out raising chicks with heat lamps and then got a couple of warming plates from another company. I was not happy with them and discovered this model from Premier 1 and recommend it highly. The unit is made of quality materials and so easy to clean. The addition of the plastic "dome" cover on top prevents chicks from roosting on top and makes cleanup simple. The adjustable legs are well designed and change height in seconds to accommodate growing chicks. When I take chicks out of the incubator and tuck them under the heat plate they act very content and relaxed. One of the best features is setting the legs at different heights so the plate is on a slant and different size chicks can choose a comfortable space to snuggle in.

The price is reasonable and the unit is very sturdy. I expect to get my money's worth out of this, unlike the other brand that is difficult to clean and fell apart after a few batches of chicks.
Pros: Easy to adjust height, low energy use, safe, more natural behavior for the chicks
Cons: none sofar
Legs are very easy to adjust, heats up quickly.
Chicks behavior seems far more natural than under lights.

Pros: Adjustable legs, chicks stay warm even in 20F outside temps, less energy usage, no fire danger
Cons: None
This is fantastic!
Even when the temps got into the low 20sF, the chicks stayed warm. It mimics the hen, as the chicks go underneath the plate and the heat is in contact with each chick. It doesn't get too hot either. Uses WAY less electricity than a heat lamp as well.
