My NH reds are laying eggs in my Pete moss bedding instead of the wood chip nesting boxes. Any ideas?? They layed for weeks in NB's but now in a single corner in the bedding.

    roosters

In reading it says separate your cockrels from the pullets when they are 8 weeks old. When do you reintroduce the grown roosters to the flock? Can you have more than one rooster or do you cull any extra ones so you only have one?

    Which rooster?

I am thinking of starting a new flock w chicks. I may start with some buff orpingtons, new Hampshire reds and Sussex or wyandottes. If I have a mixed flock of maybe 10 or 15 pullets and want one rooster, which breed should I use for my rooster? I do plan on allowing some brooding if possible.
