Well this was a bit disappointing! I knew something was up with their eggs, they don’t look like bielefelder eggs (breeder said young pullet eggs (which sounded odd and you shouldn’t really hatch out pullet eggs) and today some are starting to hatch out.
11 eggs went in lockdown

My chickens have been constantly sneezing, I am not sure if it is a respiratory infection or because I just changed to coco chips for their run. They have been sneezing for over a week now, the issue is that I just introduced a new rooster to my flock which might have given a virus to everyone...
I will soon start feeding around 20 chickens, right now only 10 are adults, the rest are 1 month olds. But in a bit they will all be eating the same thing, grower.
Stores only sell the feed in bags of 22, 44, 110 pound bags. The larger the bags the cheaper each pound is of course, which would...
Someone was selling off their battery hens (still in lay), and I was looking for some dark egg layers so I picked them up, they don’t really look 100%. They are bald in some places and their combs look pretty wrinkled and pale. But they are not in terrible shape as they haven’t been battery hens...
I was going to get some pure ameraucanas, but the seller gave me a pretty good deal on some ameraucana and ameraucana mixes (easter eggers).
He did not specify which are which, since he has a mixed flock. keep in mind these are not show quality ameraucanas, they were bred only for egg colour...
My layer hens have all passed from old age, and the chooks I have now are show chickens that barely lay. We’ve been buying grocery store eggs and I am starting to miss fresh eggs but I am a bit rusty on my layer breeds.
I will be starting two flocks, 6-7 hens with 1 rooster in each. So around...
I got some 5 month old pullets and they are starting to look a little interesting. Came from a breeder that sold them as pure rocks although the breeder also has several flocks and I got an australorp x barrad rock chick for free when i got the pullets.
I don’t have any barred rocks so I can’t...
Hello, I’m not sure if she is lethargic because of sickness or because she is old. How do I determine which it is? She is over 8 years old. She is not thin, she is still eating well, dust bathing, ect. But she spends most of her time laying down and doesn’t go too far from the coop, sometimes...
So i hatched quails yesterday, one hatched out perfect while the other needed help, when it was fully out i realized why it couldn’t go out by itself, it had issues with one of it’s legs and wings and was also pipping upside down (not aircell) unfortunately the little guy only lived for around a...
So a few days ago we unfortunately lost our rooster. We are not quite sure what happened as he was acting perfectly fine, when checking in the afternoon, we found him dead on top of the eggs. He was the best rooster we’ve ever had and we are not quite sure what happened.
Well I would love to...
Hello so ill keep it short, so its been almost two days and my hen seems to be egg bound. First day she seemed egg bound but after a few hours seemed okay, turns out the egg hasn't passed yet and she is straining again.
I tried to let her naturally pass it but it doesn’t seem like she will...
So one of my RIR pullets has been laying fairy eggs. First time finding this small of a chicken egg, even smaller than my bantam eggs.
They look really cute although not much of a meal :p. I wonder when do they stop, guessing its just a hiccup in egg production.
Heres a pic:
Hello my old hen sat on some eggs and they hatched out at the end of february. Im horrible at sexing leghorns, i was sure this was a roo but i don’t see any saddle feathers but hackle feathers show otherwise, and today they started crowing? Pretty sure its a cockerel, can anyone confirm if i was...
I’m not sure how to identify these quails! I already have 2 separate enclosures for 2 pairs and homes for the rest although i still can’t identify whos who.
They are turning bald and i am scared that it might escalate to soemthing worse if i don’t separate them soon.
There are 6 of them:

I’ve already posted about the same clutch (different issue) last thread. I’ve never experienced anything like this with all different types of eggs I've hatched.
I have been hatching some lovebird eggs and this clutch seem to have an issue. Im not sure if the parents are calcium deficient since...
So I heard that pedialyte should be discarded after 48 hours. Well I am only feeding these baby birds tiny drops.
What is a good way store these? Last time i raised baby birds i always discarded them every 24 hours which was a huge waste of money and product. I only have access to the non...
Hello I know these aren't poultry but maybe the same thing goes for poultry. so apparently today is hatching day for one for the lovebirds eggs (I do have handfeeding experience don’t worry) although since these were incubated by the hen before she suddenly died I have to guess what day they...
So, after one of the parent bird died suddenly i have taken in some lovebird eggs. I do have experience on handfeeding baby birds but i usually know when they were laid unlike this time. They are all at different stages of development too :th. does anyone know the signs of an egg going into...
Hello so i just got a pair of bantams that they said were ispenc tavuks. I love their look but i was not sure what exactly they are since when i search them up they basically translate to booted bantams which has all different looks to them combs, feet, colour, ect.
So what exactly do i have...
Has anyone had older pullet caring for a younger one? I have this brahma that had a broken leg she went through several surgeries so i had to separate her from the flock members. I didn’t want her to feel lonely so i had put her in with two silkie pullets (1-2 month younger). Sadly one of them...
