Hey there. Yes, still serving the Lord, but now I am doing more of the logistics of helping younger more able body people go. I did get to go to Guyana for a month in 2019. I caught that virus thing that is going around before anyone knew what it was and came within inches of dying. I was...
I have a very old account but I do not do a whole lot on it. I deleted my personal account a long time ago. I just use this one for business.

A simple solution. Throw dirty eggs away or break them and feed them back to the chickens. Problem solved!
Simple Rules:
1. Unwashed eggs are safe up to 2 weeks without refrigeration. Much longer if refrigerated.
2. Washed eggs must be refrigerated immediately.
Okay. So I butchered up 10 birds today. Here are the stats. I weighed all the birds after I had cleaned and cut them up. Here is what I got. These weights are on the bone with skin. I used a calibrated postal scale to do this.
1. Breast = 11.72 pounds
2. Leg Quarters...
Today marks exactly four weeks since I bought the CornishX chicks. The store said they were two weeks old when I bought them. I weighed some today. WOW! I was blown away. Most of them are over 7 pounds! One runt weighed in at 6.3 pounds. I would have never believe it was possible...
OSB holds up quite well where I am at because it is so dry here. I have unpainted coops that are 12 years old the are still good. I plan to seal this coop though with elastometric roof coating. I am not familiar with the Salatin style. I kind of just built my own stuff by my own designs.
Currently, I have meat birds in it and they can barley walk, much less jump. They all go in the freezer tomorrow though and then I will put laying hens in there. I will put some roost and some of my double nesting boxes in the coop for them.
Here is a video of how to build my custom double...
It is 8 feet by 10 feet. Ever mobile home comes with a set of those disposable axles. They are illegal to use for anything else, so you should be able to find some pretty cheap if not free. I would call a mobile home mover. My mover asked me if I wanted the axles off my home when he moved it...
Okay. So about a month ago, I was in farm store and they sold me 2 week old 50 Cornish X chicks for $20. I had always wanted to raise some meat birds on my land organically, and the opportunity knocked when I was no expecting it. So I set out to build a ground grazing box, so I could put the...
All done! Birds in the coop and temporary watering and feeding systems installed. Time for a long shower and a much deserved supper, (and an Aleve. LOL!)
Thanks. Not a bad Idea there. I have exausted all of my used lumber, so I'll have to buy some, if I want to do that. I built it all with used wood scavanged from other projects. I just had to by three sheets of OSB sheathing.
It's done! Well, at least the main structure. Still need to put the feed and water system, but the chicks are going in as soon as I recoperate from moving it 200 yards by hand.
Front
in the field and ready for birds.
