Duck eggs internally pipped on day 23/24!?

We candled our 17 duck eggs in a still air Little Giant incubator, and it looks like some of the eggs are internally pipped already. In a few hours it will be day 24. Is it too early too put them into lockdown if they are already starting to pip? ETA: I was wrong, it's actually a few hours...

    Duck crossbreeding questions

We are hatching 17 duck eggs that are a mix from our flock, and I am really curious what the ducklings will look like! Does anyone know what color these mixes would be? Fawn and White Runner drake/ Welsh Harlequin hen Mallard drake/ Welsh Harlequin hen Fawn and White Runner drake/ Khaki...

    My duck has Bumblefoot

My Welsh Harlequin has what I believe is bumblefoot. We have been doing epsom salt soaks, then rubbing clear iodine on the bumble for about a week, without any noticeable improvement. What else could we do to help? Thanks! Sorry the pictures are kind of blurry.

First time hatching duck eggs, humidity help?

This is our first time ever using a incubator to hatch eggs, and I've read a lot about hatching duck eggs, but I can't seem to find what humidity level is best? We are using a Little Giant incubator with a automatic turner.

    BURDZ from our Trip!

@GoldenFlight and I were on vacation a little while ago, and along the way we took lots of bird pictures! Some of them are from the San Diego zoo, others were in the wild. Sorry for the blurry ones...

    Our Flock Photos

My brother @GoldenFlight and I purchased a new camera a little while ago, and we are taking a lot of duck and pigeon photos now, so I decided to start a thread to show them. Occasionally I might throw in some cat or rabbit pics.

Can water have Botulism in cold weather?

There are some low spots around that are filled with water around half the year, just small 1-2 feet deep ponds. I'd love to take the ducks swimming in these, but I'm afraid that there could be botulism in it. I'm in Minnesota so the temps right now are generally under 35F. Is it safe?

    The Pet Pigeon Thread

Welcome to the pet pigeons thread! I hope we can all have a fun time talking about our pigeons. Some suggested topics to start off... Where our pigeons live? What kind of pigeons we have? How many we have? What we feed them? What are their names? There are a few people that I know...

    Sick Duck

For a couple days now my mallard hen hasn't been feeling well. She isn't standing much, and when she does walk her legs are shaky. She didn't have much appetite yesterday, but she is eating more today. We've given her apple cider vinegar and she has been drinking plenty of that. I felt her...

Indian Runner and Khaki Campbell Drakes, Morris MINNESOTA

These drakes were hatched in June, and I just have too many drakes. They are healthy, moderately friendly, and will make great pets or breeders. The Runner drake in the last pictures is molting, otherwise he looks very nice. Located near Morris Minnesota.

I think my Goose has Bumblefoot?

Yesterday, I checked my ganders feet and I noticed that on both feet in the same spot he had calluses, with yellowish-black centers. He isn't limping at all, and seems totally healthy. I think it is the beginning stages of bumblefoot, but I'm not sure. Could it just be a callus, or is it...

Why isn't my mallard drakes' bill yellow?

I have two mallard drakes. They are not rouens, but true mallards. They were hatched in June, and have been in breeding plumage for months now, but one of them still has a olive green bill. Is he lacking some mineral or something, or is it just a rare genetic thing? He is extremely healthy, and...

    Mallard x Buff Orpington Hybrid

I have several breeds of ducks, including tamed wild Mallards and Buff Orpington ducks. This spring I am planning to cross them together, and I am curious as to what colors and shape they will be? Does anyone have experience with this cross, or have knowledge of duck genetics? Here are the ducks...
