    Got snakes?

They told me there is at least one black snake getting the eggs 😱 I met this one today. Used a Chuck-It dog toy (flexible plastic long handle with special cup on end designed to throw a small ball a great distance) to retrieve the ones you see

UPDATE: Help! Did I do bad? Broody

UPDATE: I reached out to my client and seems I have stressed for nothing. She has a contact that will take all her oopsies (it has happened before). She did give me some guidance how to identify new eggs in the clutch (by marking the current ones) and remove those - and for goodness sakes don’t...

    First? Hawk attack (we’re ok)

A hawk just came after my chickens 😱😱😱 They ran for cover but there are feathers in the cover brush. I reacted quicker than the dogs (3 Pomeranian/terrier mix). Hawk flew off and I put hens back in coop. I didn’t see which one(s) were involved. Other than blood, what injuries should I look for?

    First coop built.. suggestions?

New-ish to chickens. I helped my friend build a new pre-fab coop today. We set it on pavers to keep it off the ground. We have 1/2" hardware cloth to add an apron, but storms kept us from adding it today. Thoughts on stapling hw cloth to 1x4s and framing around the bottom? Leaving coop...

    Hello.. helping a chick mama

Hi! I'm an aunt to 5 hens (the mama is no longer a novice), and my best friend, after not having chickens for at least 12 years, has just let her daughter talk her into getting 4 new chicks! We are building the first coop today (a pre-fab). I'm thankful that this site exists and I can find...
