I got a little NN mix from Eddy Ramirez and put her in my bantam pen with my Serama roo. . I didn't mean to create anything, but she outsmarted me by setting on eggs out of view.
Dave's Feed in Lemon Grove closed due to Dave getting old. He had a solo business, not associated with East County Feed. When I was a kid my mom would go to Dave's. When she saw animals being kept in cages without water she'd grab the hose and start watering them. At first it ****** Dave...
It was a great Serama show! Lots of familiar faces :) More of the Serama people, but lots of them have LF too. No ribbons, but I brought home a black Showgirl from Bea. :D
Some breeders do cull for side sprigs. I think if someone has several nice looking birds in a hatch they'll pick the one without the side sprig to use as their main roo. However, if I had a hatch and the best looking bird had a side sprig I wouldn't necessarily cull it, especially if it was...
Hi Jules, You can contact Chaili Baldwin at [email protected]
It's $10 for a space. She will put people side by side so that everyone is not all spread out all of the place. Make it more like a market bizarre. Generally a space is
a pop up tent, but you can ask her to verify.
Hi Eddie. :welcome The next meet up in San Diego is at the Serama show in Ramona, June 6th. 9:00am
18055 Bluegrass Rd, Ramona CA All are welcome. $10 to sell birds, jams, soaps, or anything else you're peddling, but hanging out is free. :)
Just beware that even a donkey will stomp a chicken or two when bored. Some recognize adult goats but will stomp babies. Just be sure to get one that has lived safely with the aforementioned animals. My chickens have learned to stay out of the young donkeys pens when they're home. When they're...
Mine don't bully very easily. In fact, they can get rough with one another when the treats are thrown out. Mine slow down in the winter, but not any more than the other breeds that I have. Excellent free rangers.
I have a rooster that I found straining to go. I cleaned his bottom, which was sealed with dried feces. It took a few days of cleaning him and administering mineral oil at both ends for him to relieve himself. I noticed he was thin, but otherwise alert and bright eyed.
After about five days...
In searching for information I stumbled across this thread. What a story!! I had to laugh when I read that you couldn't afford a trip to the vet, then surgery...then you made a trip to the vet and she had surgery. You sound an awful lot like me. :P Glad all went well and I assume she...
Way overdue! Chaili is looking for someone to host BYC/CPP at the Serama show on June 6th. I can't commit to hosting anything since my life is so up in the air. I'd certainly make every effort to attend though if someone else hosts. :D April, then June?
So many beautiful and reasonable priced homes in the estates. Too bad they're not zoned for farm animals. They'd get a lot more buyers out there if they did!!
:welcome I'm in Julian, moving to Ramona soon. We have a meetup and chat page here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/384942/san-diego-chicken-meetup-and-chat-thread/11230
There's a meet up planned for Lake Elsinore hosted by Hosspak. You can hop on over to the thread and someone there can...
