It's generally recommended to put marbles in the waterers base 'so the chicks don't drown'.. I, personally, have never used marbles or stones in my waterer and I've never had a drowned chick.
Out of Pure curiosity, how many do or don't do this?
Just curious.

Hi all, I've been looking at these birds for a few years, since I'm still learning about proper wyandotte shape and standards, I'd like second opinions.
Their body looks good to me but I'm concerned about the head shape. I know wyandotte are supposed to have short, curved beaks but these appear...
Hi all, unfortunately, I can't read music and have mixed a few practices due to weather.
Starting measure 48, I need the melody played up until measure 60, then the alto line to the end.
Or a online/app recording.
Pretty please!
Hi all, my poor hen has seeping wounds on her head from from my rooster, who has decided he suddenly hates her.
I didn't catch them right away do to my work schedule, I wasn't paying attention besides food and water and I'm hoping it's not too late.
Her face, neck and comb are puffy and bruised...
I can't say I've seen an article that had multiple pages but the option is there when writing one. What is it intended to do? When is it appropriate to use?
Thanks!
This morning I heard squabbling in the coop and I found one of my 2 year old hens hiding in the corner.
She's not keen on opening one eye and when she does, it looks like the eye has been pushed in a little and the clear part of the eye is tinted orange.
She can use one the other fine, I can't...
We usually recommend the SafeGuard for goats here, I found this today. It's a dry powder, in 2 gram packets. Would this be appropriate for chickens and what would the doses be? Safe as they recommend for dogs.
It's also 10.99.
The first ingredient is eluding me, I'm reading uikirus. If I'm reading it right, anyone know what a uikirus is?
Thank you!
Edit: I figured it put, it says zukini

Hi all, I was trying to set up my new brinsea door opener and the cord slipped out of my door and it now wound too taught.
I've tried the reset instructions a few times and it's not working.
Any ideas? Can I get an Alan wrench and loosen the motor?
Hey guys, tsc is out of most chicken feeds except for 16% layer or the pricey super organic kind that's $36 for #30.
I have laying hens and 4, 11 weekers.
They're supposed to get a shipment next week. Will this work for now?
I don't see why not but I'm just making sure.
Hi all,
I have a hen that crows every morning a few times, not loud, not well but she's enthusiastic, and two cockerels (I think) about 11 weeks old.
I'm wondering if the fact that there's already a crowing bird will have any affect to keep the young ones from crowing, since a dominant roosters...
Splash laced wyandotte, 6ish weeks old.
I specifically ordered a cockerel already so it appears I have two.
I know wyandotte redden early so I'm just double checking.
I may wait to rehome, see which one impresses me most.
Bonus pic of my Olive egger cockerel and his funky man bun.
For the third time that I can recall, I woke up in the middle of the night to my cats violently purring and kneading me.
My bedspread isn't fuzzy or soft that they would want to kneed, they don't any other time. And they generally aren't kneaders.
They don't like being that close to each other...
Hi there, I'm trying to include a brief description of an article and I can't get it to appear on the listing page, it keeps taking a snippet of the article.
What am I missing?
Thanks!
Hi there, I'm planting a bunch of potatoes this year, Yukon and Russett, I'm planing on using cattle panels or fencing to get the most out of my 16x16 garden, what can I plant on top of or next to the potatoes that does well vertically?
Thanks!
