    Underweight chicken

I kept them on all flock as I raised chicks that I hatched last year and they seemed to do better on it. All the layer feed I can find local is 16% protein. I switched brands a couple of months ago so this could be the cause, I will be going to the feed store to buy the brand I used to feed...

    Underweight chicken

This leads to another thread lol. The vslbazen may br the better option as I would prefer. I appreciate the response, I will do what I can for her. I know if there is no improvement then I will need to do what is humane to end her suffering. I just am kicking myself for not noticing sooner.

    Underweight chicken

I did check their crops last night and they were all full, even hers, so I know she is eating. Which of the dewormers are better? They have never touched oyster shells in the past hence why I recycle the egg shells. Picky little girls. She ate the eggs and ate some of their crumble so I will...

    Underweight chicken

First off, I wm kicking myself for not noticing this sooner. Nugget, one of my 3 year old chickens, is very skinny. I had cut back on the treats and scratch because most of them were starting to become plump, but they are fed 20% flock raiser and I feed back eggshells daily for their calcium...

What can I feed little chicks If I have no access to chick starter?

All flock feed. I've used that with all of my chicks and it worked really well.

anyone working on a white-egg laying Easter Egger? (or other white-layer cross)

Lisa Steeles cookies and cream from Meyers may be one to look at. A lot of ee qualities, stunning black and white feathering, and white egg later with 3-4 eggs per week.

    Hoping for A rooster

I'm thinking your black may be a cockerel, but not certain. I had an ameraucana pullet whose comb was starting to get pink around 10 weeks but stopped just like the 1st pick. They are really hard to tell until around 12 weeks.

    The Gun Thread

Grew up around guns, really appreciate them. My favorite is the 30-30 I got my dad. It was supposed to be a Christmas gift for a (ex) boyfriend years ago, who wanted to buy it off me, but I said no. I plan to get my cc with my Reuger sr .22, however I may switch to a .38 or 9mm. I enjoy firing...

    A Bear…

I live in an area where we have a neighborhood bears, and many others in a 5 mile vicinity. My experience: the bears are looking for easy meals, which usually is trash, bird feeders, etc (like others have mentioned). This being said, I also know people who have lost their flock to bears, or have...

    Before I say goodbye….

When did the comb redden up? There is nothing signifying male, everything in my eyes says female. I am also not an expert nor have/had any marans so i could be wrong. Looking pullet to me

    The AMERAUCANA thread

Okay I was wondering, although the black and white boy seems to have green legs. He may not be pure.

    The AMERAUCANA thread

It's always a bummer when that happens. Especially if you are looking forward to a certain breed or color of a chicken, it always ends up all (or mostly) cockerels. I want to eventually try my hand at a creating mottled Ameraucanas, but gotta get to a place where i can have roosters. I think it...

This one is older, but valid for my boy when he was this age. He's going as a caterpillar this year.
