The AMERAUCANA thread

Super pretty girls! Splash Ams are just so eye catching and adorable! :love

Here are some of my Ameraucanas. I hatched them in July of this year from some eggs that my friends gave me. I hatched 10 eggs, and I got 4 cockerels and 6 pullets, which I was pretty pleased with. I's always great when you have more hens than roosters! :D

They are beautiful birds but I think these are easter eggers and not ameraucanas. At least not pure ameraucanas, if they are they were mixing colors.

Yes, that seems to be the luck I generally have as well! Dang boys! :)
It's always a bummer when that happens. Especially if you are looking forward to a certain breed or color of a chicken, it always ends up all (or mostly) cockerels. I want to eventually try my hand at a creating mottled Ameraucanas, but gotta get to a place where i can have roosters. I think it would be pretty, but obviously it would be a while before they came to fruition.

Meet our lovely feathered friend, Sweetie. She's a Lavender Ameraucana, gracing us with the most exquisite sky-blue eggs. Sweetie joined our flock back in mid-March as one of our founding members, sourced from a nearby breeder. What sets her apart is her fondness for perching in my lap, engaging in delightful poultry conversations. I like to believe she's sharing the latest chicken gossip, but that's anyone's guess!

Okay I was wondering, although the black and white boy seems to have green legs. He may not be pure.
It is very possible that they are not purebred. The legs aren't as green as the picture makes them, but they are still a bit green. My friends got theirs from a Ameraucana TSC bin, which we all know the stuff about TSC 😒.

Here is the father, which he is a mixed color. He has the right leg color.

Here is one of the mothers. I don't have a picture of her legs, but she also has the right leg color.

And this is the other mother. She must be the culprit, since she has greenish legs.

I wonder if they threw an EE in their Ameraucana bin (since they are a similar looking breed, and tend to be confused all the time (even by me I guess🙃), and the light mother is the daughter of an EE?
