We have 3 newly hatched turkeys and one of them acts drunk and keeps falling on its back. I figure the problem could easily be like that of a chick so I thought I'd post here to see if anybody could help. It seems healthy other than that and it keeps flopping around trying to right itself and...
I have 4 Lavender (self blue) orpington roosters and 2 Lemon Cookoo Orpington roosters for sale for anybody within driving distance of Fort Wayne (actually Markle). Anybody interested?
Does anybody in Northern Indiana have a cayuga for sale? Not sure if gender matters. A friend's daughter's cayuga drake got hit last night. I am also thinking I might be looking for Bourbon Red turkey hens if anybody knows where I can find some.
Our buff orpington rooster's comb is smaller than it was and not as bright in color. Otherwise he seems healthy and alert. Does anybody know why this could be happening? He is
about 7 mo. old,
Compare his to the hen on the left and him on the right.
Look how big his comb was a couple...
They have been molting but I think they're pretty much done. And our ducks aren't laying either. We should be getting about a dozen chicken and 7 duck eggs daily but we are getting 2-3 eggs for each a day. It wouldn't stress me but people want eggs finally and now they aren't laying.:(
So, it is October. Our new bourbon red just laid her first egg since we got her (she was laying before we bought her). We don't know how often she will lay but (and we have a Tom) what are the chances that her eggs are fertile? And can I incubate them this time of the year?
We recently got a pair of bourbon reds for breeding. I was under the impression the hen would only lay in the spring? But she laid an egg today. Then would this egg be fertile or do they just breed in the spring?
Thanks for your concern. Those marks couldn't be from a dog because she has been spending her days in a large fenced in area with chickens. Our dogs are the only ones around her and she intimidates them. Her main issue now is balance. Whatever happened to cause her to quit walking is taking...
Thanks! It seems that whatever we have done for her has helped because her foot is essentially healed. She will have to be kept apart from the rest of the ducks at night so that, if/when she starts laying again we will not be able to sell her eggs. Hopefully, she will eventually be able to...
When I checked your webpage/website it said that baytril is used to treat bumblefoot.
I wonder if we'd be better to give her the medicine orally. I didn't know we could do that. I have a feeling that the sores are from the shots.
I will start giving her kefir in the morning and try to get...
Before we started dealing with her bumblefoot (she had 4, 2 on each foot), I tried researching which antibiotics to use, but the information is so hard to find. I know I posted on my FB page what the first antibiotic we gave her, but for the life of me I can't find it. The first antibiotic is...
