I also was stung once on the arm this weekend while switching out the supers and refilling the sugar feeder. I made a series of stupid mistakes because I wanted to “save time” as a storm was coming in. I broke the rules 6 different ways to get there too. I have learned that you can get away...

I invited a registered NC Master Bee keeper over to my place to go through my hives inspection last Saturday. He said my hive was one of the most healthy hives he had ever seen! A 10 out of 10! my hive had only 4 hive beetles (which we squished), zero desease, and zero veroa mites in the test...

Too funny Deb B Most people are afraid of bees only because the haven't learned much about them. And because they have been attacked by wasps and equate them with bees. It really takes a lot of mistakes in a row to get stung. The Italian and Russian bee are pretty laid back. I only got...

I earned my 1st new hive sting! I was inspecting my hive frame by frame yesterday. One of the bees managed to find a less than zipped zipper in my bee keeping jacket. She crawled up to my shoulder blade Inside my jacket. I must have semi squished her when leaning over and BAM she hit me. It...

    albino chicken

From http://www.patient.co.uk/doctor/albinism The precise appearance depends upon which syndrome or condition is involved. Popular opinion is that people with albinism have red eyes but the colour of the iris varies from a dull grey to blue and even brown. A brown iris is common in ethnic...

    albino chicken

I'm not sure she is albino or not... I'm not even sure if she is an Orpington or a Rhode Island. Because she came from a random batch of hatching eggs from a local chicken breeder with over 30 varieties. I've never seen a whiter chicken... Which is ironic because I also breed ayam cemani...

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

She is just so white, is she albino? (this was the only photo that actually reflected her colors correctly) Check out her unusual eye color (my camera actually adds color to her pictures). Her legs are pink with white powder overtones. This ones color is better.

    *Buff Orpington Thread!*

Is this 7 week old super white bird an Orpington or a Rhode Island? I think the smaller orange bird next to her is an Orpington. They where hatched on the same day from random hatching eggs from a local chicken breeding farm. With of course 30 verities of chicken breed.

W Well, you are entitled to your opinion. I completely disagree with your opinion. Of course, Feel free to breed from whatever lines you like. Just for the record: These two lines are from Indonesia and they are no more hybrid than any other line out there. These are facts not opinion...

I agree with you. This is what I have been trying to say all along. Every line is important and needs to be worked with to bring things to black. We can not afford to loose any genetic Cemani lines because there are so few of them. I am also encouraged by GFF progress over the last 2 years...
