Thank you! Very nice! I have to wait to build more coops until my Apprenticeship is over. Really want to add mini goats for weed control assistance and giggles.
Wow! Pics please of your set up! I have 49, including coturnix quail. 2 coops and runs. My big coop (10'×16')has two pens inside plus a 3 tier brooder/quail pen. My small coop 8'x12' is all open and the flock goes where they wish.
Check your local city or township website for info or start making phone calls. Can also try the humane society in your area for info. Most towns do not allow roosters but a certain amount of hens. There are a few towns that allow both but far and few between these days, most are small burgs...
My bantam EE roo does that half the time his girls are laying. Then that starts up the other 20. Gotten use to it, only taken 2 years. Warning calls are much louder with a growl in front of them then the racket if all 30 plus joining in.
Well I am at 48 birds for now. 18 are quail. Hubby said you realize now how many you have.??? Well yes, yes I do, but there are 14 in the bator due this weekend too!
Have you looked at any of the Coturnix Quail threads? Tons of info there as well. I have only had mine a few months now. 4 hens and 2 males. We keep them in doors in their own pens. Ours are for food use mostly. Have my first hatch if them going now and so far it's going pretty well.
Well I have set em but only have had 4 hatch so far, lately. Hope I have it figured out now. Check and recheck it again. If I don't get a good hatch from it soon it will be used as target practice.
Is that one of yours? Beautiful!
Hello Mini! Long time no see on here! Yes I know you are very busy. Hope you are well and everything's been good for you.I hope to post pics for you to see my first quail hatch over the coming weekend. Have 50 in my bator due to start next Sunday and go all week long hopefully. Yeah, I went and...
I have a group of LF COCHIN that do not roost as well. One has a bad leg and can not roost, so they cuddle up. My 3 month olds do the same. They rather pile up and let the others roost.
@minihorse927 Hello! Hope you are well!I have my first quail eggs in the incubator. We keep adding to them too. I kept pushing it back so the current layers were abit older. Thought maybe like new laying chickens it would be better to wait a while. Any thoughts on this?
