I ordered 6 and received 7. Only 6 would fit comfortably into my incubator, so I tossed one that had a few hairline cracks (only visible on candling), figuring it had the least likelihood of hatching out of any of them.

My last egg didn’t hatch. 2/6 isn’t a great hatch rate, but, for shipped eggs in January, it could have been worse. And at least one of the two chicks that hatched is a pullet! I’ve got one more hatch of my own flock set up now for a Valentine’s Day hatch date. Maybe the third time will be the...

The fourth egg is still showing no signs of pipping. Given that we’re more than 36 hours past the first hatch, I’m not optimistic, but I left it in the incubator when I rest a new batch of eggs. You never know, right?

Chick #3 was also malpositioned. Darn shipped eggs. :( Looks like it hit a blood vessel while pipping and bled out while I was outside doing horse chores this morning. That's the first time I've lost a viable chick at hatch. That leaves egg #4, which is the one with the saddled air cell. I'll...

The slow starter chick is bright and alert this morning. She’s not quite ready to move to the brooder, but she’ll get there. Still no pips on the two remaining eggs, though one showed good movement when I candled. Hopefully it gets on with things soon.

I can, and I will if she doesn't perk up by morning. She's only been out of the shell for a little more than an hour, though. I'll give her a little more time before I intervene much. Currently, she's snuggled in wash rag on top of a heated rice sock. That's how I warm up all my chicks between...

Chick #2 is a pullet! :wee It was a difficult/assisted hatch, so she’s pretty worn out at the moment. She’s fluffed up but not alert yet. It’ll be a while before she’s ready to move to the brooder. No pips on the other two eggs yet.

The first one hatched surprisingly quickly given its position. Unfortunately, it’s a cockerel. I helped the second one establish an air/safety hole and will check it again in a few hours. Fingers crossed for a pullet! Nothing yet from the other two eggs.

I have two pips! Both are malpositioned - one slightly, one badly (pipping in the small end). I'll give them a few hours but will likely end up assisting both chicks unless they surprise me.

Four Bielefelder eggs going into lockdown this morning: The lightest one had a badly saddled air cell initially, but it has shifted to a more normal shape now. It and the darkest egg showed lots of movement while I was candling this morning.

Pulled two definite clears from my Bielefelder eggs this morning. I have a couple more than look questionable; I’ll give them several more days, though. Meanwhile, my adult flock is dealing with almost 8” of snow that fell yesterday:

I ordered them from Omega Hills Farm (http://omegahillsfarm.com/). I was very impressed with the service and packing/shipping job; I have high hopes for these eggs.

Well, my incubator is as clean as I can make it following my terrible New Year's Day hatch (1/9). I just set 6 shipped Bielefelder eggs. Fingers and toes crossed that this one is much more successful!

My Bielefelder hatching eggs (7) from Omega Hills arrived today, a few days earlier than expected! They were packed expertly and all look very good. They’re currently resting and waiting for my NYE hatch-along eggs to hurry up and hatch so I can clean and reset the incubator. I’ll probably toss...
