I have bought 2 different batches of the Bielefelder hatching egg's from the same breeder on ebay. They shipped from out of Chicago. I had 5 pullet's that hatched out of the first batch, and a boy that had failed to thrive. So, I had 5 girl's and no boy's. On the second batch, I now have 2...
Sometimes shipped egg's are like that if they have a good distance for journey. Plus, with this crazy weather that's been happening in places. I'm going to wait until spring before I order more of these.
Maybe the next one will be a pullet. I noticed that the pullet's have the darker "V" on the head, and look more chipmunked on the back's. The black mark by the eye goes back pretty far too on them.
I wish you luck with those. I did a hatch of Bielefelder's back in November. I have 5 pullet's from that hatch, and the only boy that hatched wasn't strong enough to survive. That's why I am hatching more of these. I intend to start breeding the Bielefelder's over here.
I'm just going to follow the hatching instruction's that the breeder was kind enough to give to me. I let them rest pointy side down for 24 hour's before putting them in the incubator. He said that on day 19 with shipped egg's to put them in egg cartons pointy side down again to let them hatch...
My 18 egg order arrived, and there was one extra that was sent. One egg was cracked and 2 were broken. I tossed those, so I have 16 egg's that are now in the resting mode.
The mailman is supposed to be delivering my 18 Bielefelder hatching egg's today. I have to let them sit for 24 hours before putting them in the incubator, but I am in on this one.
@gimmie birdies Sorry for the loss of your rooster. I hope that you have a decent hatch with those.
I have some shipped Bielefelder hatching egg's on the way coming from Chicago, so if they arrive looking in good shape, I'll be in this one with you.
